This is the last one Sam.

Release Date: March 21st 2020

Synopsis: Lucan sets off with Kiyoshi and the rest of the Felden fleet, but not after saying goodbye to Niika. Abbigail and Sam go for a hunt as they are running low on food, and the Ardoni clans have gathered to discuss the Voltaris attacks.

The Felden military is loading up supplies at Mahoa Docks, getting ready to attack Mount Tempus in a few hours time. Lucan is sitting at the edge of a dock as Niika approaches, and they open up to each other about their experiences, Lucan as a prisoner and Niika as an outcast.

Lucan: I'm not like Kiyoshi, who knew exactly what he wanted to be all his life. I just can't see myself working a normal job... the same routine every single day. I... I'm probably not making any sense...
Niika: (interrupting) No. I know what you mean. Even before I hunted the Necromancers... I never really fit in with society.

Before she can continue however, Kiyoshi summons Lucan to get onto the main ship, as the convoy is ready to sail. Lucan and Niika bid each other a heartfelt goodbye. Before the convoy leaves, Kiyoshi has a conversation with his sargeant Alec, who's nervous about going up against the undead and the Necromancers, noting that they are much more dangerous than the ones they have faced before, being armed and coordinated. Kiyoshi however, reassures Alec that as long as everyone follows orders, the Felden military will win. The fleet then leaves the Docks, sailing to Mount Tempus, with Niika watching them go.

In Sendaria, clan members are burying those who were killed in the Voltaris attacks, as are the other Ardoni clans. After they bury them, they light their gravestones; the markings of Thalleous, and so many others, will shine for all to see.

In the mountains between Mendoria and Kaltaria, the masters of the clans and several other members have come to discuss what to do with the Voltaris following these attacks, since the attackers were clearly after the Prime Songs.

Galadar Mendoris: Many times has Thalleous Sendaris warned of this, and because of his efforts the Prime Songs are safe from the Voltaris... for now.
Hadion Mendoris: Do not be so hasty Galadar, we are not certain this tragedy was the work of the Voltaris. It may have been bandits... or the Unyielding Legion. I have also heard about a Necromancer group rising in the west.
Galadar: Then what will we do?
Master Siderian Mendoris: As much as it pains me, I must concede with our previous judgement. We are too weak to attack, and we risk too much.
(pause) (Master Aurelius walks in)
Master Aurelius Nestoris: Long has it been an honor for us masters to light the graves of out dead... so that their markings may shine forever. But the stones we lit today did not signify the passage of elders concluding long life. Today we buried innocents - massacred by an enemy we no longer have the strength or courage to repel.

Zulius Kaltaris opts to strike the Voltaris at Mount Velgrin, where Thalleous said to him they were hiding, and eliminate the Voltaris for good. While Master Siderian disagrees with this, Mendoris brothers Galadar and Hadion immediately join Zulius' call for action. As they all leave to send word of a war party to the Ardoni clans, Zulius and Galadar nervously talk about how long it has been since the Ardoni last wielded the Songs of War, hoping that they still know how to use them, before Zulius displays his Aggressium Song.

Senn is in the river, having his memories peered through by the Elder Guardian, who swims away after making his judgement. Senn is suddenly ejected out of the water by the other Guardians, and moments later, a prismarine bridge floats to the surface, indicating that the Guardians are letting Senn, Igneous and Timber go to Ataraxia.

Abbigail and Sam are then seen in the woods, going hunting as their supplies run low. Before they can do anything however, Jalkar comes out from behind a cliff face, swiping at Sam before engaging in combat with Abbigail, intent on killing her and Sam. Jalkar easily disarms Abbigail, but before he can finish her, Sam comes from behind and drags himself and Jalkar off of a small cliff, getting himself killed in the process.

Abbigail hurries towards Sam, as Jalkar leaves with the Dragon Egg. Abbigail angrily goes after Jalkar, firing an arrow into his lower back. Before Jalkar can turn to defend himself, Abbigail fires another arrow into his chest, bringing him to his knees. She then fires a third arrow through Jalkar's heart, killing him. Abbigail takes the Dragon Egg, but she is not at all happy about how she earned it.

To Be Continued

Tropes:

  • A Father to His Men: Captain Kiyoshi shows that he clearly cares for the well-being and morale of the soldiers under his command, as proven when he personally reassures Alec about the Necromancers.
Kiyoshi: How long have you been in the military?
    Alec: Only three years, sir.
Kiyoshi: In those three years you've had more training than any of these Necromancer scum. When we find this Necrolord, I'll kill him myself and the rest will falter. If you obey my orders, and remember your training, we will sail to victory today. (pats Alec on the shoulder)
    Alec: Yes, sir.
  • Adaptational Heroism: The Guardians, who are hostile mobs that actively kill other mobs in regular Minecraft, are neutral mobs here, simply guarding the secretive location of Ataraxia.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Hadion Mendoris questions the notion that the Voltaris were behind the attacks on the Ardoni villages, citing the many other dangers in Ardonia as possible candidates for the raid. This is brief however, since he is more than willing to come along for the attack on Mount Velgrin alongside his brother Galadar, moments later.
  • Attack on the Heart: Abbigail kills Jalkar by firing an arrow straight through his heart. This is after she fired one into abdomen, which brought Jalkar to his knees.
  • Bad People Abuse Animals: Jalkar, being well into his Villainous Breakdown, takes a swipe at Sam with his knife, and is seen hitting the poor dog as the two are being dragged off the edge of the cliff.
  • Birds of a Feather: Lucan and Niika open up to each other about how neither of them knew what they wanted to be as people, and ended up chasing down Necromancers in order to get by in life. Neither of them know what to do afterwards either.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: The Ardoni war meeting has two different justifications behind whether to go to war or not:
    • Those who say that they shouldn't fight, such as Master Siderian Mendoris, state that the Ardoni are too weak to retaliate, and bringing about a war will be devastating for all.
    • Those who say that they should fight, such as Galadar Mendoris, state that the remaining Ardoni will risk the Voltaris clan growing in strength, and that attacking them now will stop that from happening.
  • Break the Cutie: Abbigail, is absolutely heartbroken after Sam is killed, and tears up over his lifeless body. This event causes her to snap, and kill Jalkar in retaliation.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • The Ardoni war meeting contains plenty of references to previous events in the season:
      • Zulius tells the others about Hawken's death, and Thalleous told him about it as he was hiding the Prime Songs in the Time Skip between Episodes 1 and 2.
      • Episode 6, is referred to throughout the meeting, due to the seriousness of the Voltaris attacks (which everyone in attendance is discussing). Hadion Mendoris also name drops the Unyielding Legion, the organisation Jalkar is a part of, which he mentioned in the same episode.
      • The Necromancers are mentioned to be a possible threat after the attacks on the Ardoni territories.
    • Kiyoshi mentions how Felinas hate water when talking to Alec before sailing.
  • Cool Boat: The Felden military has a large Galleon and two smaller ships as transport to Mount Tempus to rid the kingdom of the Necromancers.
  • The Dreaded: The Necromancers, despite their secrecy, seem to be feared by many people outside the kingdom of Felden, such Hadion Mendoris, who thinks that they are a truly credible threat to the Ardoni.
  • Friendly, Playful Dolphin: Dolphins are seem swimming and playing in the surf created by the Galleon of the Felden fleet.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Sam drags Jalkar off of a cliff edge in a desperate attempt to save Abbigail from harm.
  • Heroic Vow: Zulius Kaltaris promises to put an end to the Voltaris' reign of terror in the Ardoni war meeting in the middle of the episode.
Zulius: I am no master, and I have no partner in life. I will do what I must to eliminate the Voltaris, once and for all!
  • Hidden Depths:
    • Lucan admits to Niika that he can't see himself getting a normal job, saying that he still doesn't know what to do with his life, often getting into trouble because of it.
    • Niika admits that she never really fit into normal society, and that she ended up chasing down Necromancers for years in order to try and do something with her life.
  • In the Blood: Kiyoshi discusses this when talking with Alec before the Felden fleet set sail, providing us with a bit of his family history.
Kiyoshi: I've been serving Felden since my grandfather was Captain of the Guard. I was half your age and expected to become the next Captain after... my father.
  • Lock-and-Load Montage: The beginning of the episode shows the Felden military loading up their fleet with weapons and other supplies, in preparation for the attack on the Necrobase beneath Mount Tempus.
  • Meaningful Funeral: Thalleous, as well as several other victims of the Voltaris attacks on the Ardoni territories, are given long, sad funerals in remembrance of the slaughter that took place at the hands of the Voltaris.
  • Mind Rape: The Elder Guardian forcefully probes through Senn's memories in order to figure out whether or not he should be allowed to go to Ataraxia. Senn is allowed access.
  • Moment Killer: Kiyoshi completely ruins the heart-warming conversation Lucan and Niika were having at the beginning of the episode, right as Niika was about to open up about her past.
    Niika: I think...
Kiyoshi: Hurry it up Lucan! We're ready to sail...
  • Motivated by Fear: Alec, Kiyoshi's sergeant, explains this just before the Felden militia set sail to attack the Necromancers at Mount Tempus.
Alec: Defending against undead and rooting out bandits is one thing, but this...
    Kiyoshi: This is greater.
Alec: These undead area coordinated, armed, and ruled by that dangerous psychopath they call the Necrolord.
  • Morality Pet: While it was shown throughout the season, Sam is tragically shown to be this to Abbigail. After he's killed near the end of the episode, Abbigail snaps and kills Jalkar in retaliation.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: The music that pans from Abbigail's enraged expression to Jalkar running away with the Dragon Egg stops dead after Abbigail fires the second arrow into Jalkar, only picking up again after Jalkar is killed.
  • Mysterious Past: Senn's past is further seen as this when his memories are being probed through by the Elder Guardian. Among it all, only one sentence can be clearly heard, leaving us, as well as Senn to figure out who, or what, the voice is coming from.
Mysterious Voice: Who's child is this?
  • Near-Death Experience: Senn almost drowns after the Elder Guardian probes through his memories, and he's only saved at the last minute when the other Guardians eject him from the river.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Abbigail's attempts to get the Dragon Egg and return it to Etherea ends with the death of her dog Sam, and Abbigail having killed a man in Revenge for Sam's death, showing her how hard it really is to suddenly change lifestyles.
  • Only the Worthy May Pass: It's implied that the Guardians drag people into the river in order to figure out whether or not they out to be going to Ataraxia or not, as they did with Senn.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: The clan masters, namely Aurelius Nestoris and Siderian Mendoris, show their reasons for and against an attack on the Voltaris at Mount Velgrin. After they agree on an attack, they send word to the other clans, in order to gather as many warriors as possible for the attack.
  • Ship Tease: Lucan and Niika get a lot more of this during the episode, with their heartfelt talk and opening up to each other about their personal issues and finding out how much they have in common. Their heart-wrenching farewell makes it even more pronounced.
  • Supernaturally Marked Grave: The Ardoni clans, upon burying the bodies of their deceased, have the masters tap their gravestones with their staffs, lighting them up with the torso markings of the now-dead Ardoni.
  • Telepathy: It's implied that the Guardians communicate this way, seeing as the regular Guardians eject Senn out of the water once the Elder Guardian has made his judgement on Senn.
  • Thou Shall Not Kill: Lucan shows that he finds the thought of murdering someone to be abhorrent.
    Niika: Did you kill someone?
    Lucan: What? No!
  • Title Drop: Galadar Mendoris names the series during his brief conversation with Zulius Kaltaris after the conclusion of the war meeting.
Galadar: Many years has it been since we last wielded the Songs of war.
Zulius: Let us hope... we remember, how to use them. (fires Aggressium Song)
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Jalkar, as part of his Villainous Breakdown, is now much more aggressive, something that was briefly shown in the previous episode.
  • Tranquil Fury: Abbigail calmly, but furiously fires several arrows into Jalkar after Sam is killed. This is the first Out-of-Character Moment that she displays, due to her Thou Shall Not Kill attitude that she took on when it came to Lucidius and Grim just a few episodes ago.
  • Villain of Another Story: The Voltaris, as well as attacking Osivian's village in Sendaria during the events of Episode 6, also attacked all of the other Ardoni villages that contained the Prime Songs.
Zulius: All four Ardoni clans were attacked- one village each, all dead. Slaughtered.
Master Siderian: Not just any villages either... they were after the Prime Songs.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Jalkar has gone down an irredeemable path by the time this episode rolls around, having been hampered in his mission to sell the Dragon Egg, and Abbigail's relentless pursuit of him, pushed him far off the deep end.
Jalkar: I've had enough of you, girl!
  • The War Room: The Ardoni are shown to have one in the mountains between Mendoria and Kaltaria, and just south of the mountain barrier of Northwind.
  • Was It Really Worth It?: Abbigail ponders this after she killed Jalkar and to get the Dragon Egg, losing her best friend Sam in the process.
