It's time for the confrontation between the good and the evil Spyro.

Written by: Ian Weinreich and Clayton Sakoda

Dark Spyro has now been discovered as Strykore’s spy, and it seems like there’s no hope of reversing the effect, until Hugo comes in, having found a recipe for a serum that can eradicate darkness. Only problem is, it’s gonna need Fire Viper venom, but the team is fully willing to do it if it means it’ll help them bring back Spyro. But the serum might have some unmentioned side effects.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Badass in Distress: The Skylanders get imprisoned by the Fire Viper family after accidentally waking them up, and they end up being rescued by Hugo.
  • Clone Angst: Glumshanks is at first delighted to be cloned, because he will be able to have some company after only having Strykore. And not only that, it will also be of himself, so the company will be similar to him. But after spending some time with them, he realizes just how annoying and unpleasant he is to be around, which is so annoying that he ends up missing Kaos.
  • Complexity Addiction: Hugo makes saving the Skylanders and getting venom from the Fire Vipers way more complicated than it needed to be. Instead of just freeing the Skylanders immediately (which he does very easily by utilizing a spoon as a key) while the Fire Vipers are sleeping, he runs behind the snakes and tie their tails together. Then he wakes them up, but they can't reach out to eat him due to their tails being stuck. Except for the kid, whose mouth Hugo puts a bone between and while hanging from there, takes the chance to collect some venom. After being thrown away, only then does he save the team and they can all escape, but the kid makes it out of the tail tie and the heroes narrowly make it out. In the end, they were all very close to be eaten all because Hugo wanted to look smart.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: When the Troll army Strykore tried to recruit didn’t accept the offer, Strykore "may have" transported them to another dimension.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Unlike the original Glumshanks, all of his clones aren’t too happy about seeing Kaos, but even they look concerned when Strykore gets rid of him by sending him through a vortex to an unknown place.
  • Lack of Empathy: At no point in this episode does Strykore bring up that his dragon minion has been discovered as his spy, and seems to immediately seek out to replace him with a troll army. It goes to show that Strykore ever saw Spyro as a tool for his operations and nothing else.
  • Plot Hole: No explanation is given as to why Spyro survived the energy explosion while Dark Spyro didn’t, which is especially odd as Spyro was closer to the ensuing blast than his dark counterpart was.
  • A Rare Sentence: After spending time with his clones, which he finds to be very annoying, Glumshanks strings together some words in a particular order he never thought he would do; “I think that I miss Kaos.”
  • Spoiler Title: The “split” in the title refers to Spyro and Dark Spyro being split into separate beings, which doesn’t happen until the second half of the episode.
  • Wham Episode: Spyro gets his body back from his dark influence, said dark influence is annihilated, and Kaos brings the Map to Arkus to Strykore who gets rid of him now when he doesn’t need him.
  • You Fight Like a Cow: Spyro and Dark Spyro both try to diss each other during their fight.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Kaos brings Strykore the Map to Arkus, the thing the latter has been looking for all season. Strykore’s response is to dispose of Kaos to an underwater prison cell to have him out of the way.
