Go To

The village of Elberon throws a party for Adora, Bow and Swift Wind. A village girl named Flutterina helps when the Horde springs another trap.

Tropes

  • All According to Plan: After Hordak asks her if her plot is working, Catra says something like thisnote , although it previously seemed like her scheme was ruined. Granted, this happens right before we learn Double Trouble (who she hired) succeeded in infiltrating the Rebellion.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Double Trouble successfully infiltrates the Rebellion in disguise.
  • Batman Gambit: All of Catra's tricks and traps in the episode were designed simply to allow "Flutterina" an excuse to join the Rebellion.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Catra has a nightmare about Entrapta, suggesting the former secretly feels guilty over exiling the latter to Beast Island.
  • Electric Torture: Catra lures She-Ra and Swift Wind onto an electrified grid.
  • Evil Gloating: Before and after revealing to She-Ra that she lured her and Swiftwind into a trap, Catra gloats to her, including mockingly telling her she's "terrible" at noticing traps.
  • Facepalm: After she and Swiftwind damage several of the Horde's bots in ways that allowed them to regenerate, She-Ra facepalms.
  • Finger Gun: Before she leaves the villagers to fight one of the Horde's bots, She-Ra briefly makes her hands resemble guns.
  • Friendship Denial: When Scorpia tries to give Catra some encouragement over the (seemingly) failed mission to Elberon and mentions Entrapta in passing, Catra angrily tells her to stop badgering her and that the two aren't friends. Poor Scorpia looks heartbroken from that.
  • Idiot Ball: Adora totally forgets that the new bots can survive being chopped into pieces and multiply the second time she encounters them, mere minutes after her first fight.
  • Ignored Epiphany: Catra is clearly suffering from guilt over activating the portal and sending Entrapta to Beast Island judging by her nightmares. She instead ignores her guilt and doubles down on her unpleasantness, getting angry at the slightest hint of Entrapta's name and yelling at Scorpia when she offhandedly mentions her.
  • Kick the Dog: Catra to both Emily and Scorpia. After awakening from her nightmare and seeing Emily hovering over her, Catra violently lashes out at her, leaving the bot with deep scratches on her "face". When Scorpia tries to give Catra some encouragement, she tells her to leave her alone and denies their friendship. Then, Catra combines the two by telling Scorpia if she ever sees Emily again, she's turning her into scrap.
  • Luminescent Blush: Hordak blushes when Imp repeats Entrapta's name over and over again.
  • Meaningful Look: When Hordak tells Double Trouble and Catra to never try and deceive him again (after they pretended to be Catra to show off their Voluntary Shapeshifter moves), Catra glances down at the LUVD crystal in his armor, clearly reminding him of what happened last time he disrespected her. Hordak just angrily turns away from her at that point.
  • The Mole: Double Trouble invents an identity as an eager girl named Flutterina in order to infiltrate the Rebellion.
  • Nanomachines: The drones She-Ra encounters are made entirely of nanobots that can replace pieces of the drone that get cut off, allowing them to multiply.
  • Not in Front of the Parrot!: Hordak inspects a piece of equipment and asks "Was this your doing, Entrapta?", prompting Imp to repeat Entrapta's name over and over again, causing Hordak to blush.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: While Hordak gets angry at Catra for deceiving him, he does listen to her advice when she points out retaking Elberon is a waste of time and goes along with her plan to send in Double Trouble as The Mole.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: She-Ra cuts off Catra before she can even begin with her usual gloating, pointing out Catra hurt a lot of people when she activated the portal and that She-Ra's no longer interested in what Catra has to say.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: After She-Ra's Shut Up, Hannibal!, Catra points out that the entire reason the village was captured was because she left them defenseless, and even claims she doesn't need to hurt She-Ra's friends because she does a good enough job herself. She-Ra's own guilt keeps her from coming up with retort.
  • Villain Has a Point: She-Ra follows up her Shut Up, Hannibal! by proclaiming she won't let Catra hurt anyone else. Catra rightly points out that She-Ra was the one who left the villagers undefended and allowed their capture.
  • Wham Shot: The last scene shows Flutterina's eyes turn into Yellow Eyes of Sneakiness, revealing "she" was Double Trouble all along. Well, confirming, since many watchers probably had their suspicions from the moment she was found alone with everyone kidnapped.

The Portal

Catra suffers from guilt-induced nightmares as a result of sending Entrapta to Beast Island and opening a portal that almost tore reality apart. Not that it motivates her to make amends in real life.
