The Sailor Guardians track down the last of the Rainbow Crystals as does Zoisite; they think the holder of the final crystal is a little girl An Ohara but it turns out to be her cat Rhett Butler...who also happens to have a crush on Luna!
Tropes in this episode include:
- Acrofatic: Despite being overweight, Rhett's got enough prowess to save Luna twice from a gang of stray cats in the same episode.
- All There in the Manual: The leader of the alley cats is named Ashley according to the 1993 Kodansha book Sailor Moon Nakayoshi Anime Album 2.
- Ambiguously Absent Parent: An's parents are identifed as Kurahisa and Mimi on their house's doorbell. But they never appear during the episode and An says they won't be home until evening. The DiC dub changes this to An's parents working out back in their garden but they still don't show up in the dub either.
- Butt-Monkey:
- Luna all the way through this episode. She gets chased by vicious alley cats, gets her tailed chewed on by one of them, gets pursued by an enamored Rhett and even gets stuck in the sewers with the fat cat. On top of that, she gets chased by Zoisite and deals with the Guardians teasing her over Rhett at the end.
- From the moment he steps into the sewer, Zoisite becomes this, and it doesn't stop until he's outside of it, cloaked in swarm of rats that chased after him, which then comes back after Tuxedo Mask steals the Rainbow Crystal he just freed, where he pathetically gives chase on foot instead of his usual teleportation antics.
- Cats Are Mean:
- Played straight with the alley cats who harass Luna not once but twice during the episode!
- Zigzagged with Rhett; he's nice enough in his normal form but turns out to be the youma Bakene after getting transformed by Zoisite. He gets better though thanks to Sailor Moon and friends.
- Crush Blush: Rhett blushes a few times in Luna's presence.
- Dub-Induced Plot Hole: Inverted. In the original Japanese, Luna doesn't give a reason why she won't accompany the Sailor Guardians into An Ohara's house. In the DiC dub, she outright says it's because of An's cat having a crush on her.
- Dub Name Change:
- Rhett Butler was renamed Hercules in the DiC dub.
- The Spanish dub named the cat "Gatito Chico" which translates to Little Kitten.
- The Russian dub calls him Red Hunter.
- The Polish dub names him James Bond!
- Gamer Chick: Implied with An; she has a video game console and the Sailor V home video game which Usagi eagerly plays as Makoto and Ami look on in embarrassment.
- Girly Girl: An Ohara full stop. She has long brown wavy hair with green bows. She also wears a frilly pink Victorian style dress with a collar and green frills plus an large aqua bow at the base of the collar and a green bow at the waist.
- Ironic Name: In the DiC dub, Rhett is given the name of "Hercules" despite being a plump and overweight cat.
- Mistaken Identity: The Sailor Guardians and Zoisite think An Ohara has the last Rainbow Crystal but it turns out to be her cat Rhett Butler instead!
- More Teeth than the Osmond Family: The alley cats pursuing Luna all bear sharp teeth before closing in on her.
- Shipper on Deck: Played for laughs at the episode's end when Usagi, Ami, Rei and Makoto all tease Luna over Rhett's crush.
- Shout-Out:
- Where to begin with the Gone with the Wind references? The cat is named Rhett Butler; his owner is a little girl named An Ohara, an obvious reference to Scarlett O'Hara; and Ashley (mentioned above) is a reference to Ashley Wilkes.
- The DiC dub gives Rhett the name of Hercules from Greek mythology.
- The Polish dub changes Rhett's name to James Bond.
