Recap / SM G4s Mario Bloopers Goodbye SMG 4

Go To

Mario has to say goodbye to his longtime friend…

With the Super DMCA signed, SMG4 resigns himself to delete his channel and share the OCs' fate. Mario couldn't be more unhappy; he's forcibly back to his canon lifestyle and lost all his non-Nintendo friends. That is, until he finds the parody contract that Meggy managed to sneak inside his hat for him! He now has one last chance to save his friends, but can he escape Lawyer Kong and all the forces of Nintendo and find Judge Kirby to settle the score once and for all?

The sixth and penultimate episode of the Lawsuit Arc.

Tropes:

  • Actor Allusion: When the OCs are revived at the courthouse, SMG2 is seen holding a coconut shell.
  • Back from the Dead: All the OCs are brought back to life once Mario submits the parody contract to Kirby. However, SMG4 has to win the trial in order to keep him and the others that way.
  • Badass Boast: Mario gives one to Lawyer Kong when the latter prepares to face him with an army of ninjas:
Lawyer Kong: Mario... how do you think this will end?
Mario: It will end with Mario getting his friends back, YOU BIG MONKEY!
  • Black Comedy: While the reason why is heartbreaking, Mario's depression montage still manages to net a few laughs.
  • Bring It: Mario does this to the slew of ninjas right after his Badass Boast.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: A heartbreaking example; with Lawyer Kong waiting, SMG4 uses his final moments to bid the audience goodbye and thank them for their support and views, before Luke sadly deletes the channel and takes off his iconic cap.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Kirby putting the trial between SMG4 and Nintendo into session, leading into WOTFI 2022.
  • Continuity Nod: While saying goodbye to Mario, SMG4 recalls the time they were being chased by the Chain Chomp, the time Mario got his penis stuck in the door, and their battles with Zero in the Cosmology Saga.
  • Downer Beginning: The episode kicks off with SMG4 saying his final goodbyes to Mario and the audience before Luke deletes the channel, killing him.
  • Driven to Suicide: During his depression, Mario repeatedly attempts to off himself by running off of the edge of Battlefield, but to no avail.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Subverted; when Mario finds the parody contract in his hat, he assumes that it’s toilet paper, and ends up giving it to Phoenix Wright. Then Wright actually realizes what it is, and tells Mario how he can use it to undo the DMCA and save his friends.
  • Evil Is Petty: Just in case you somehow didn't think Lawyer Kong was completely rotten yet, he's shown C&Ding Frankie with a big grin on his face.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Lawyer Kong successfully gets rid of the OCs, and brings Mario back to Nintendo. Unfortunately, the whole debacle has left Mario too depressed to care about his new games, so he keeps botching his scenes, preventing Miyamoto from getting any more work done. So things still aren't back to "normal" for the company.
  • Heroic BSoD: After what happened in the last episode, and SMG4 deleting his channel, Mario becomes extremely depressed to the point of nearly crossing the Despair Event Horizon and loses his willingness to make any Mario games. He snaps out of it after finding the parody contract that Meggy slipped under his hat before she died, giving him the resolve to present it to Kirby to try to revive the channel and his friends.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Even though the Parody Contract resucitates the Glitchy Gang, they still need a lawyer, which Lawyer Kong boasts they don't have. Enter Meggy.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: Although Mario's friends are revived, there's still a trial that needs to be settled before he can keep them. Luckily, Meggy comes in ready to use her lawyering skills.
  • Refusal of the Call: When Bowser shows up to try and kidnap Peach, Mario simply tosses the Princess at Bowser before flipping them both off and closing the door to the castle.
  • Spanner in the Works: It’s revealed Meggy managed to slip the parody contract under Mario’s hat before she died, giving him a chance to set things right.
  • Suddenly Voiced: Kirby is given voiced dialogue.

After Lawyer Kongs' Super DMCA went through and killed off all of his friends and forcing SMG4 to erase his channel, Mario has lost any reason to want to even work with Miyamoto to create more Mario Games.
