Mario and SMG4 are in a pickle right now. a big dangerous and killer pickle. the chain chomp got out :OOOOOOOOOO.
While at Bob-Omb Fields, the Chain Chomp is let loose and invades Peach's castle. Now Mario, SMG4, Luigi, Toad, and Peach must find a way to survive before a turned on stove burns the whole castle down.

This is notable as the episode that put SMG4 on the map, and for nearly a decade remained as the most popular project produced by what would eventually become GLITCH Productions until the pilot for The Amazing Digital Circus surpassed it in a matter of weeks. It's also the second episode of the classic era to receive a remastering after "Freddy's Spaghetteria".

Watch the episode here!

Tropes appearing in this video:

  • All for Nothing: Despite Luigi turning off the stove, the building is already on fire by this point, and the castle burns down thanks to Mario throwing a bomb at the Chomp
  • Art Evolution: The remastered version adds in the character design enhancements that were added in the years since the original episode's release, including changing Gourmet Guy and Old Man Hobo from sprites to 3D models. The Chain Chomp in particular is much more expressive and animated than in the original. However, SMG4 retains his original "Mario recolor" design, as "WOTFI 2022" has not canonically happened yet.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Played for Laughs. Mario is able to get rid of the Chain Chomp at the end of the episode, but the castle burns down thanks to Peach not turning off the stove when making meatloaf and no one else being able to because of the Chain Chomp invading the castle, made worse by the bomb.
  • Bowdlerise: Like Freddy's Spaghettiria before it, the REMASTERED64 version edits some content that wouldn't fly in a modern SMG4 video.
  • Camera Abuse: The first thing Chain Chomp does after being freed is run right into the camera.
  • Clumsy Copyright Censorship: The REMASTERED64 version removes the original versions of "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Who Let the Dogs Out", replacing them with humorous covers (a recorder cover for the former, and a Toad cover for the latter). The latter case is lampshaded.
Note: Original song was copyrighted :(
  • Foreshadowing: When Sonic arrives at the front door, Chain Chomp asks him if he wants to be friends. At the end of the video where he seemingly has Mario and SMG4 cornered he reveals he was going to ask the same of them.
  • Fourth Wall Psych: SMG4 proposes that everyone should take action and says "And you gotta help us" while looking and pointing at the viewer. The next scene reveals that he was talking to Mario, who promptly refuses.
  • I Will Only Slow You Down: Mario tells SMG4 to go on without him after being tuckered out from running from the chain chomp. SMG4 quickly complies, displeasing Mario.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: The only reason Chain Chomp chased the gang in the first place is because he wanted to be friends with them. SMG4 is touched by this, but Mario doesn't care and throws a bomb at the Chain Chomp to blast him out of the castle.
  • Rule of Three: In the remaster, Gourmet Guy shows up one more time at the end of the episode, giving him three appearances in total.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title is an obvious one to the Baha Men song, "Who Let the Dogs Out." The song itself plays from the moment Chain Chomp breaks free to when the group has gone into hiding, and a remix of it plays during the credits.
    • When SMG4 says RUN BITCH RUN.
    • There's also one to Pac-Man, as SMG4 throws and invincibility star at Chain Chomp, causing him to turn yellow, leading to a brief chase scene in the style of the video game.
  • Tempting Fate: In the remastered version, Luigi shows up at the end, revealing that he survived the castle burning down. Cue Gourmet Guy falling on top of him.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Mario thinks it would be a great idea to play with an Angry Guard Dog, and he later sticks his head directly in said dog's mouth to get some spaghetti. Later, SMG4 tries to fend off the Chain Chomp... by throwing a Super Star at it. Even Mario is dumbfounded by his stupidity.
  • Unsportsmanlike Gloating: Toad engages in this after beating Peach in Super Smash Bros.
