Recap / SMG4 - Mario Works At McDonald's

Go To

Desperate to improve productivity, Chris allows Mario to work at McDonald's with him and Swag. This gonna be goooood.

Contains examples of:

  • Artistic License – Law: At the beginning of the episode, Chris agrees to have Mario around as an extra set of hands, but Mario is never officially hired as a worker. This could never actually happen, because a worker who isn't actually employed poses a whole variety of legal and safety issues, but this is never discussed in the video.
  • Autocannibalism: After soaking in the deep fryer, Mario pulls off his legs and eats them, while proclaiming that he's delicious.
    Mario: Mario's so yummy!
  • Bad Boss: Ronald McDonald, in a similar vain to Gaben from Mario the Waiter. Mario's a less-than-stellar employee, but that doesn't stop Ronald from being a criminally insane, ultra-violent boss who frequently engages in Disproportionate Retribution.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Two instances:
    • When Mario is first employed, he attempts to make a cheeseburger. It appears to seem as though he's done a good job as the scene cuts to a perfectly made burger. The scene zooms out to reveal it was just a picture, and Mario puts it down to look at his sorry looking burger.
    • Big Smoke comes through the drive through and takes his meal without paying. This prompts Mario to chase him down and eventually shoot him. Mario gets back, and he's seen munching on food.
Chris: Hey Mario, did you manage to get the money he owed?
      Mario: ...What money?
  • The Dreaded: Ronald McDonald. He does not tolerate poor performances from his employees, and whenever he shows up, Swag and Chris will do everything they can to keep him happy.
  • Groin Attack: When Ronald and Colonel Sanders are about to fight, Sanders ends it instantly with a swift kick to Ronald’s McNuggets.
  • Lethal Chef: Upon realizing how nasty his burger looks, Mario throws it out. The burger lands in Chris's mouth, killing him instantly.
  • Retraux: Despite taking place in the modern day Mushroom Kingdom, all of the training videos Mario watches have VHS tape overlays, and all of them begin with the sound of a tape being entered into a player.
  • Tempting Fate: Chris wonders What Could Possibly Go Wrong? when Mario agrees to work with them.
Chris: Help? Well... I mean, we could use an extra pair of hands.
[samera zooms in on his face]
Chris: [slow motion] What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
  • Winged Soul Flies Off at Death: Chris's soul ascends after accidentally taking a bite out of a burger made by Mario. Swagmaster grabs Chris's soul and puts it back in his body, telling him he's not dying until they've done their job.
