Donnie vs Witch Town

  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: The Great Morgan. The town gives him a worm potion as a peace offering every year, but when Donnie botches it, he goes on a rampage.
  • Combination Attack: Donnie and April unleash one on the Great Morgan.
  • Department of Redundancy Department: While apologizing to the citizens of Witch Town, Donnie brings up his brothers and uses the word "dum-dums" a lot.
  • Don't Make Me Destroy You: April threatens to hit Donnie with her bat if he doesn't tone down his attitude.
  • Epic Fail: April mentions Donnie has a habit of these regarding science projects, pulling up some pics on her phone as proof.
  • Equipment Upgrade: When Donnie crashes into April, her baseball bat hits and destroys a witch's cauldron, infusing it with mystic energy.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Once the situation gets bad enough, Donnie admits that he's afraid that if he can't prove how useful his science is, he'll become obsolete in the face of magic.
  • Magic Versus Science: As a man of science, Donnie isn't pleased to visit the titular Witch Town.
  • Meaningful Background Event: At two brief points, we see a creature flying in the background and hear Raph screaming, clearly on his own adventure.
  • Never My Fault: When April shows Donnie the various failed science fair projects he helped her with, he dismisses them by claiming it was another Donnie who was responsible.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: After collecting enough worms, Donnie ages them prematurely. This taints the potion they're put in and makes the Great Morgan go nuts.
  • Occam's Razor: Donnie yells this as a Battle Cry when trying to fight the Great Morgan.
  • Oh, Crap!: Donnie has this reaction when the Great Morgan catches his staff and flings him away.
  • Persona Non Grata: After Donnie criticizes magic one too many times and destroys a statue, he and April are promptly banished from Witch Town.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: After Donnie confesses his insecurities, April assures him that he's important because of who he is, not just what he can do.

Raph's Ride-Along

  • Actor Allusion: The Mud Dogs are voiced by the actors of the 2012 incarnations of the turtles minus Raph.
  • Chase Scene: When Raph encounters the real Heinous Green, the large criminal chases Raph through Hidden City. Raph resorts to stealing a bird trying to get away from him.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Raphael getting mistaken for Heinous Green, who only vaguely resembles him, and falsely arrested greatly resembles racial profiling. The fact that he's clearly much younger than the yokai and the added fact that even after he proves he isn't Green he gets mistaken for an entirely different criminal Yokai, Evil Emerald, and is arrested anyway only drives the point home.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Raph tries to have the Mud Dogs arrested so that he can get away by having them rob a police station and later break into prison to set up a “hideout”. Unfortunately for him, the gang completes the tasks successfully and they start to accept him as their leader.
  • Meaningful Background Event: As Raph is running away from Heinous Green, he sprints by Mikey who is tossing something in a fountain.
  • Mistaken Identity: Twice in this episode, Raph is mistaken for wanted criminals. He’s arrested and being carted away when he’s mistaken for Heinous Green and he’s later thrown into prison when he’s mistaken for Evil Emerald.
  • Pet the Dog: After rightly not trusting Raph for a while, Loathsome Leonard eventually accepts Raph as the leader.
  • Police Are Useless: The Hidden City police arrest Raph twice when they mistake him for wanted criminals. In the climax, they initially don’t believe Raph when he’s been chased by the real Heinous Green. That is, until he draws a mustache on the wanted poster to match the one Heinous Green has.
  • Token Good Teammate: Raph is the only member of the Mud Dogs who isn’t a criminal. The things he suggests like breaking into a police station and a prison are just him trying to get the Mud Dogs arrested. He doesn’t expect the gang to succeed.
