Recap / Rick And The Loud House Chapter 54 The Rick Revenge Squad

Go To

As Lola tries to return to the glory days of her pageant career, a few old enemies come for revenge on Rick and the Louds...

"Rick & Morty episode:" N/A

"Loud House epiosde(s):" Community Disservice

  • Adaptation Deviation: In addition to being an original chapter, the fact that simply because of the events of "Toads, Tiaras, and something Ricked" with Lola's retirement from pageants made the events of "Community Disservice" moot due to Lola being already past her character development by the time she meets Meli. Also, the events take place in an alien dance theater.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: Meli first appeared in Season 4 of the original Loud House cartoon. In this fic, she makes her first appearance in Season 5.
  • Berserk Button:
    • When Krombopulos Amy calls out Lana and Lincoln for killing Krombopulos Michael, Lana retorts that he was a "bad guy" who deserved to die and calls her a "bad guy" just by being married to him. Naturally, Amy is BEYOND furious.
    • Lola freezes in terror when she sees Mr. Needful again. But when he goes after her new friend Meli, she loses it and attacks him, her hands even turning into demon claws as she beats him up.
  • Bittersweet Ending:
    • On one hand, Rick and the kids survive their encounter with the villains and Lola decides to hold off performing for a while, satisfied with the friends and family she already has. Plus, she gains a new friend in the form of Meli, and Carl and Adelaide make up and officially become friends themselves.
    • However, Lola is still troubled about what Needful said to her about not changing (not helped by the fact that her hands transformed into claws when she attacked him), Lincoln is disturbed by Lana's increasingly dark moral views towards "bad guys" but is unsure how to deal with it, and Rick is realizing that Groupon may be right about him being the reason his family is always at risk.
    • On top of all that, the villains escape thanks to Tammy bringing them to her spaceship presumably to recruit them.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: Lana shows shades of this during the kids' confrontation with Krombopulos Amy. She states that since Michael was an assassin (i.e. a killer), he deserved to die, and she even tells Amy that being married to him makes her a bad guy too. Lincoln is understandably horrified by her behavior.
  • Body Horror: As Lola attacks Mr. Needful, her hands start turning into claws, indicating that she may still have some leftover side-effects from his demon potion.
  • The Bus Came Back: Three villains from previous chapters make their return here; Mr. Needful from Toads, Tiaras, and Something Ricke, Risotto Groupon from The Suite and Sour Conspiracy, and the Fighting Goose from The Rick of Fighters.
  • Cerebus Callback: When Lincoln and Lana killed Krombopulos Michael all the way back in Frog Run Wild, it was played out as a quick dark joke. However, this chapter reminds the reader that he had a wife and that wife, now a widow, is out for their heads.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Risotto Groupon may be out for Rick's head, but he won't target his grandchildren. He even chewed out Krombopulos Amy for trying to assassinate Lola (whom she mistook for Lana).
  • Original Generation: Apart from introducing Meli and burrowing elements from "Community Disservice", the chapter is completely original.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Lana shows no concern for Krombopulos Amy's grief over her husband's murder, believing that he deserved to die for being an assassin and that Amy is evil for being married to an assassin.
  • Villain Has a Point: Groupon tells Rick that he puts his entire family in danger just by being in their lives. Even though he tries to block it out, a part of Rick can't help but agree with him.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Krombopulous Amy has no qualms about blowing Lana's brains off for killing her husband. Groupon chews her out for it.
