Recap / Revolution Z Season 1 Episode 5

Go To

Left without Tino, the band gathers around Bobby, but they aren't able to come up with any decent ideas for a contest song, be it lyrics or a tune. Tino, meanwhile, finds a death metal band at the school and joins them, but later gets rejected because the front man butchers Tino's lyrics and refuses to listen to any advice. Tino secretly gives his lyrics to Filip, who hasn't been able to think of any. Later Filip arranges for Tino and Bobby to meet and reconcile, but they refuse and the band remains splintered. After seeing the failure of the band, Tino returns to them.

Bobby is also trying to get it on with Ani, but something doesn't feel right with her and she keeps pushing it back. That doesn't stop Bobby from bragging about his sex life in sex ed class. Meanwhile, Mira learns that Ani is still a virgin, and later starts making fun of her for it. She finally confesses that to Bobby, who claims he's OK with it.

Mira is an object of gossip at school, namely that she slept with her French teacher at her previous school. Savov, as her homeroom teacher, is concerned that it might happen to another teacher, namely him. Cekov tries to brush his concerns off and all but orders him to be present at a farewell party for a colleague the following evening. The party sucks for Savov: first Mira really tries to flirt with him, then he challenges Cekov to a drinking duel and "wins". A drunk Savov stumbles out of the bar and is taken into a taxi hailed by a female figure who may or may not be Mira. The following morning, he wakes up hungover in his bedroom, naked but alone, with only a single blue bra strap on the pillow next to him.

Savov initially thinks it was Marinova who slept with him, but she denies it. Then Mira messes with him by showing the strap of her bra which is similar to the one he found, and later presses him, stating that they had sex. She manipulates him into doing favors for her, such as teaching her to drive, but she tries to seduce him and he leaves. Mira threatens to tell Cekov, but Savov is determined to quit rather than gettig fired. At school, Dimitrova acts like they're in a relationship and then reveals she was the one who had sex with him, to Savov's great relief.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Can't Take Criticism: Bobby throws a tantrum when Ani and Fipo tell him his "song" is nothing original. Also Valeri, the leader of the metal band.
  • Creative Sterility: The band without Tino.
  • Cock Fight: The drink-off between Cekov and Savov starts as a challenge when Cekov asks Marinova (Savov's friend with benefits, whom he has a crush on) to dance. As the two are drinking, the four female teachers line up besode them to watch.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Cekov when Savov is angry that no one told him about his new student being involved in a sex scandal with her previous French teacher.
Cekov: ... Besides, you're teaching physics, not French.
  • Gaslighting: Mira makes Savov think that they had sex, partly to milk favors, partly to mess with him, because she knows that if she tells anyone, they'll believe her.
  • FilleFatale: Mira.
  • Moment Killer: Bobby and Ani are trying to get it on, but she sees a picture of him and Tino together and gets reminded of her feelings for Tino.
  • The Obi-Wannabe: After seeing Ani mocked for her virginity, Dimitrova tries to support her, even if pretty much everyone knows she's more awkward than any schoolgirl.
  • Pervert Dad: Bobby's father tries to hit on Ani when she comes over. That puts her off later when Bobby tries to have sex with her and she leaves.
  • Sex Equals Love: In this case for the better, because the hopeless romantic Dimitrova believes she is to take things further with Savov and lets him know very explicitly that they had sex that night.
  • Virgin-Shaming: Mira spots Ani filling out the "I'm a virgin" option at a test, then draws her as "St. Anna, forever a virgin".
    • Slut-Shaming: Ani's father when he finds the condoms she got in sex ed.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: The Tino-less band's attempts at composing. Fipo's are plain weird, while Bobby runs on romantic clichés or outright stolen verses and chords (from real-life pop songs).
  • What Did I Do Last Night?: Played for drama, as for all Savov knows, he is at risk at being fired because he may have slept with a schoolgirl.
