Recap / Power Rangers Dino Fury Episode Forty One Bad Vibes

Go To

Void King's latest invention allows the Voids to turn Javi and Izzy over to their side so they can finally put their master plan in motion.

Tropes:

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: Void King successfully invades the Rangers' base for the first time since "Destination Dinohenge".
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: The Garcias want to do karaoke as an anniversary celebration, much to an un-brainwashed Izzy and Javi's embarrassment.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: The brainwashing does wear off, but a little too late, allowing Void King to walk into the base and steal all the Sporix.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Void King escaping with all the Sporix the Rangers had secured, while Solon is badly injured.
  • The Ditz: Good old Mucus gets confused remembering the simple code needed to activate the drilling machine.
  • Foreshadowing: Void King mentions the ray works on the same principles Void Queen's machine used to make him Brainwashed and Crazy. Note that and how Izzy and Javi break out of it, because that becomes important a few episodes from now...
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy: Mercifully saves the Rangers from all being brainwashed. Nulleye's such a bad shot he manages to hit only two Rangers out of six before the Sporix ray is destroyed.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Once the brainwashing wears off, Izzy and Javi have no memory of what they've done.
  • The Nicknamer: Ollie gives the villains the name of “The Voids”.
  • Not Himself: Javi and Izzy under the effects of Void King's Sporix ray. They're unswervingly loyal to Void Queen, and also much more snappish and short-tempered when they're not acting.
  • Pet the Dog: For what it's worth, Void King does give Mucus a genuine kudos for a job well done when she successfully activates the drill.
  • The Power of Love: What breaks the Sporix ray's effects on people. Izzy and Javi thinking about how much they love their family manages to snap them out of their evil funk.
  • Surprisingly Mundane Reason: Turns out there's a reason why the plan in the previous episode didn't work, and it's a surprisingly normal one; you don't just need the key to activate the drill. You need the key to turn the drill on and the passcode to activate it.
  • Xanatos Speed Chess: Void Queen plans to brainwash the Rangers so they’ll simply give her the Sporix. Though only Izzy and Javi are affected, and fail to steal the Sporix, they are able to tell Void Queen how to use the drill that was their plan A.
  • We Need a Distraction: After the drill is activated, the Voids have Nulleye and a Sporix Beast keep the Rangers busy until it reaches their base.
