Recap / Power Rangers Beast Morphers Episode 43 Source Code

Go To

Nate makes a horrifying discovery and must rely on the wisdom of an ally to help him work through it. Robo-Blaze has a final showdown with the Rangers, while Evox begins his endgame.

Episode Tropes:

  • Armor-Piercing Response: Evox leads into his big reveal by saying that Nate experimented on old Ranger tech.
Nate: Yes, but how do you know about that?
    Evox: Because I was there.
  • As You Know: Downplayed. The Rangers already know who Venjix is (presumably from Ranger History Class), and Ravi gives a one sentence description of him after The Reveal.
Ravi: So he's the computer virus that almost destroyed an entire world?
  • Awful Truth: The Rangers finally learn how Evox came to be: Years ago, Nate mixed snake DNA and Morph-X with an RPM Cell Shift Morpher. That Morpher was, in fact, the same one that Venjix secretly stowed away in at the end of RPM. As a result of Nate's experiment, Venjix was restored to life as Evox and released into the prime Earth Dimension.
  • Back from the Dead: Evox demonstrates his new powers by resurrecting Keytron, Spiketron, Antennatron, and Slicertron.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: It turns out that Robo-Blaze is just a distraction, and that Evox's real plan is to have Scrozzle sneak into a tower and upload the access codes while the Rangers are busy. Consequently, Evox gains control of the entire global Tower network.
Evox/Venjix: Thanks to you, the entire world is at my mercy, and there's nothing you can do to stop me!
  • Big "NO!": Robo-Blaze's last words right before his permanent death.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Turns out Evox was Venjix (or rather fragments of the Venjix Virus combined with Morph-X and snake DNA) the entire time!
    • Dr. K pops up too.
  • But Now I Must Go: At the end of the episode, Dr. K returns to her dimension to make sure there aren't any other traces of the Venjix Virus.
  • Continuity Nod: In the flashback to Evox's creation, Nate's got a whole bunch of old morphers on his desk, with a Megaforce morpher front and center.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: When Evox explains how he was created, it shows a flashback with a younger Nate experimenting with a Cell Shift Morpher.
  • Flashback: When Evox discusses how young Nate experimented with assorted morphers, including one from a particularly relevant season. Shortly afterwards, we also get a brief clip of Venjix's final form.
  • Foreshadowing: Nate tells Zoey she can't understand what he feels. He later receives a visit from Dr. K, who knows exactly what he feels because she also unleashed Venjix. Bonus points for it being Zoey who brought Dr. K to Nate.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: The flashback has numerous Ranger Morphers in the background: Gosei Morphers, an Operation Overdrive morpher and a Cell Shift Morpher.
  • Heroic BSoD: Nate shuts down emotionally when he learns that he accidentally created Evox years ago.
  • It's All My Fault: Throughout the episode, Nate is wracked with guilt over his role in creating Evox. It takes a certain someone who destroyed 99.9% of their entire world to speak some sense to him.
  • Kick the Dog: Evox delightfully mocks Nate over unwittingly creating him, stating he'll go down in history as the one who caused the end of humanity.
  • Killed Off for Real: Robo-Blaze is permanently destroyed in this episode.
  • Killed Offscreen: The Go-Busters footage of the Rangers destroying the resurrected Keytron and Antennatron is not included in the fight scene.
  • Musical Nod: During the flashbacks of Venjix in RPM, a modified version of the Venjix theme plays.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Turns out Nate is responsible for creating Evox, when he experimented on Scott Truman's Morpher, which had the Venjix Virus inside, allowing part of Venjix to escape into Grid Battleforce's computer system, gaining a new form as a result.
Evox/Venjix: Now tell me boy genius, how does it feel to be responsible for the destruction of human civilization?
  • No-Sell: Because Evox has downloaded the data on all of Grid Battleforce's weapons, he's able to absorb Devon's sabre into himself.
  • Oh, Crap!: How the Rangers react when Evox reveals his secret.
  • Snipe Hunt: Rather than deal with the Burkes, Dr. K asks them to prepare a "special fuel" for her. At the end of the episode, they return, and it turns out she had just asked them to make her some tea.
  • Stealth Sequel: Beast Morphers becomes an unexpected direct continuation to RPM thanks to one single line stated down below.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Evox mockingly notes that his mention of a Cell Shift Morpher is causing Nate to put everything together and get very worried.
  • Wham Line: Evox reveals his true identity, changing the entire series and dropping one of the biggest bombshells in all of Power Rangers history.
Evox: (voice reverts back to his original tone) I... WAS... VENJIX!!!
  • Wham Shot: The sight of a Cell Shift Morpher in Evox's flashback.
  • You Fool!: Evox over the Rangers continuing to try to stop him.
