This couldn't be more badass if "Ride of the Valkyries" were playing in the background.

An Eevee that's been on an adventure to Melemele Island has drawn a lot of attention. Suddenly a lot of individuals are after it, including Alolan Persian, and Team Skull. Can Lana and Popplio intervene and rescue it?

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Badass Armfold: Popplio can ride on her Surf once she learns it, and the first time she does, she has this. Eevee swims on and rides it as well.
  • Call-Back: Popplio is aware of the Alolan Persian (Pershie) that was chasing Eevee because it knew the trouble it caused for its friends in the past, and decided to protect it from both Pershie and Team Skull.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The third Eevee segment had it and Mantine pass a boat. Turns out that boat belonged to Lana's father, who makes his debut in this episode.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Rapp has a full-on squee attack over Eevee.
  • Face Your Fears: Popplio decided to face its fear of Team Skull by battling them in order to protect its best friend, Eevee.
  • Flashback Cut: The beginning includes clips from the "Where Are You Going, Eevee?" stingers from the past several episodes.
  • Grew a Spine: Popplio decided to battle against Team Skull, wanting to protect its best friend, Eevee. Lana and Eevee were inspired by Popplio's courage as they decided to do the same.
  • How We Got Here: The episode begins with Sandy in a cave snacking on berries, it then shows how the Eevee got to that point, including being chased by Houndour, riding on Mantine's back and attacking all the Pokemon on the beach. The episode then cuts back to the present, after a few minutes, Sandy decided to see its new friends again and goes searching for them.
  • Important Haircut: Noticing that Sandy's having trouble seeing at the end of the episode, Lana cuts its long bangs so that it can see. The End-of-Episode Silliness has it notice its reflection and take quite a liking to the new hairstyle.
  • Meaningful Echo: The episode title references the "Where Are You Going, Eevee?" segments from the past several episodes.
  • Meaningful Rename: Eevee gets one right before Lana catches it. Since she found it on a sandy shore, she names it Sandy (Nagisanote  in Japanese).
  • Mythology Gag: Eevee's headfur is another reference to Pokémon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, though Lana's hairstyle is not an option (though it is a variation on the fringe haircut).
  • Starting a New Life: Eevee going by Sandy and accepting Lana's offer to go with her shows that it was ready to leave its old life as a wild Pokémon behind and begin its new one with its friends.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Popplio learns Surf.
  • True Companions: Ash and his friends dropping everything to help Lana find Popplio is one of those moments. Also, Popplio and Sandy have shown this by doing anything to help one another out, which shows how strong their friendship is.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: The episode starts, after the Flashback scene, switching between Lana, going on her daily life with Harper & Sarah, etc., and Sandy trying to reunite with its friends. After Persian shows up and starts chasing Sandy, the episode switches back and forth, between Lana, and later the rest of the gang, trying to find Popplio and her alongside Sandy trying to escape Persian then later Team Skull, Tupp, Rapp & Zip. However, the two groups reunite on the beach.
  • Wild Take: Popplio's reaction when the Eevee runs to Salandit, Zubat and Garbodor. Her detaches itself from her face.
