Recap / Peeking Through The Fourth Wall Episode 33

Go To

Lincoln is on the couch again, this time with Luna, Lynn, Lana, and Lisa. The story is titled Will Lynn Tell?, and it starts with Lynn doing archery in the backyard. She's already a good shot even after just a few days, but she doesn't want her family to know about it. The real Lynn wonders why, and Lana suggests it's because she's afraid of being seen as a nerd. However, Lynn thinks that due to the weight of the bow, archery isn't nerdy.

Back in the story, Lynn goes to explain why she's keeping her archery a secret, because apparently the audience asked her why. This confuses the real Lincoln, since the audience has never replied to him. Fanfic Lynn explains that she has been banned from several sports, including fencing, due to her younger siblings. The real Luna jokes that the Lynn in the story may become a LARPer, but the real Lynn hates the idea.

In the story, we see Lynn in the past being banned from fencing due to accidentally poking Lola in the butt, then javelin throwing (though the real Lynn prefers javelin catching and in the story Lola blames Lana for eating a wormy apple, even though she didn't know it had worms), and sharpshooting (though we don't get a flashback for that). The Lynn in the story wonders why her parents don't let her shoot but they let Lisa do dangerous experiments, but the real Lisa points out that her experiments only endanger herself.

Fanfic Lynn explains that she will wait until the Royal Woods Archery Meet to prove to her parents that she's responsible enough to do archery, then a fly buzzes past, which Hops catches, and Lana is with him. She asks what she's doing and Lynn tells a "lie of omission" by saying it's sports practise. However, Lana wants more details, so Lynn claims that it would bore Lana and that she just dropped her bow out of her closet instead of her "cesta", which prompts Lincoln (the real one) to call his sisters "cestas". She tries to lie that it's "jai alai", but eventually tells the truth (even though the real Luna says that she would have believed Lynn if she said that jai alai used arrows.)

In the fanfic, Lynn explains to Lana that it's a secret, and then Lana wants an apple shot off her head. The Lynn in the story understandably baulks, but both Lanas are A-OK with the idea. Then, story Lynn imagines an angel and a devil on her shoulders, prompting the real Lincoln to wonder why the cartoon angels and devils never fall off. Luna suggests they hold onto Lynn's hair, then starts bugging Lynn by calling her hair cute. This makes Lynn angry and she buries Luna in the couch.

Back in the story, things get worse when Lana threatens to dob Lynn in to Lola if Lynn doesn't do the apple trick. After another internal argument, Lynn eventually agrees to do the trick, using a rotten apple from under Lana's hat. However, Lynn is nervous and can't aim properly, and while the arrow doesn't hit Lana, it bounces all over the show. Then, it finally cuts through a branch, which falls on Lana, knocking her unconscious.

This makes Lynn unsure as to whether to tell her parents, but the real Luna points out that Lynn could just say that a loose branch fell and hit Lana. Lynn takes the unconscious Lana inside, then the real Lana says that Hops would want to smack the story Lynn, prompting an argument that ends in Lynn being buried in the couch for calling Lana a pipsqueak.

In the story, Lynn puts Lana to bed, which the real Lisa thinks is a bad idea. Lucy then notices the unconscious Lana in Lynn's bed, so Lynn tries to lie that Lana's own bed was too messy. Lucy isn't buying it and does an occult ritual on Lynn. Lynn thinks that Hops is telling her off, but the real Lisa says that he's not smart enough to understand the situation. This offends Lana, who pretends Hops is swearing at Lisa.

Fanfic Lynn goes downstairs and gets an ice pack, but then meets Lisa in a helmet and khakis with a bag of tools. It turns out that she wants Lana to help her dig. Lynn lies that Lana is at a friend's house, but then notices that her arrows are still in the backyard, where Lisa wants to dig, and the front yard is unavailable since Lucy has buried dead animals there. After another internal debate, Lynn decides to just tell Lisa that she's cleaning up her sports equipment, then leaves.

Lynn puts the ice pack on Lana, who wakes up, but is still dazed and can't count Lynn's fingers. However, she knows everyone's name and doesn't feel nauseous. Still, Lynn doesn't want to take any chances and has Lana stay in bed instead of digging with Lisa.

The story continues, and Lynn goes downstairs to find Luna, who also wants to see Lana, as they promised to play "Timp-muddy" together, which is a game involving the mud-covered timpani that they played during "Room with a Feud". This causes the sisters to argue about whether they make good or bad roommates, and bury one another in the couch again.

In the fanfiction, Lynn tells Luna that Lana is digging with Lisa, then when Luna wants to ask Lana when she'll be available, tries to lie that the situation is dangerous, then that Lana isn't there. Luna then realises Lynn is lying, leading to another conversation with the imaginary angel and devil. Eventually, she pretends Lana is at a friend's house again, but then Lola shows up, wanting to practice her driving in the backyard.

Lynn tells Lola in the story that Lisa is outside with Lana, but then Lola wants a tune-up from Lana. This is, as you can imagine, awkward for Lynn and it gets worse when Lisa and Luna show up and tell Lola that Lana isn't outside after all. Story Lynn points out the broken glass and makes a run for it.

Then, the devil Lynn convinces her to make a very dangerous plan. Lucy appears in the story as Luna, Lola, and Lisa are pounding on the door. She talks about Lynn's inner demons, then Lynn opens the door and controls Lana (who has fallen back asleep) like a puppet.

Nobody buys it, but fanfic Lola decides to play along. After a while, Lynn drops Lana in fear, who wakes up. At this point, Lynn finally tells the truth. However, Lana feels solely responsible for not listening. Lynn (again with the angel and devil) considers letting Lana take the fall, but then decides to do what's right and blames herself. Lana cries and Lynn hugs her, prompting the real Lana and Lynn to hug.

Then, in the story, the parents show up, ground Lynn for a week, and disallow her from going to the archery meet. The story ends with Lana giving Lynn an apple and promising to take her word for it if Lynn tells her something is too dangerous. However, Hops and Charles become nervous when Lincoln plays yo-yo.

With the story over, Lynn reveals that she has tried archery before, along with curling and shuffleboard. She hasn't tried sumo wrestling, but that's only because girls aren't allowed.

    • When the Lynn in the story thinks that taking care of Lana on her own in secret would be a way to prove she's responsible, the real Lisa says that it's similar to the old "tree falls in the forest" situation since nobody is around. Lana says that this time, the tree has fallen on her head (since that's why the story version of her needed taking care of in the first place).
  • Skewed Priorities: The angel Lynn in the story is more concerned about Lynn getting in trouble than Luna getting hurt or killed if Lynn pushed Luna downstairs.

  • Waxing Lyrical: An observation that Fanfic Lynn's shoulder angel isn't really the bastion of morality it's meant to be leads to this exchange:
Luna: Gotta say, Lynn, it's telling when even your good side isn't that good.
Lynn: So what are you trying to say? That I'm the bad guy?
    Luna: Duh.
    [Lynn slugs Luna.]
Luna: Ow!...okay, I had that coming.
  • Would Rather Suffer: Lynn would apparently rather jump into a lion's cage dressed as a gazelle than LARP.
  • You Are Grounded!: At the end of the story, Lynn is grounded for a week.
