Lincoln and Lisa are back, reading a story. This time, they've brought along Leni, Luna, and Lola. This time, they're going to be reading Substitute Roommate and it's by... Bobbybooboobear? Lincoln, however, is pretty sure that it is not, in fact, Bobby who wrote it. Things are already looking off because, according to the plot summary, Luna does something scary in her sleep...
The fanfic opens on Luan packing for sleepaway camp... without having informed Luna about it first. Fanfic Lynn and Lincoln, meanwhile, are playing baseball outdoors and accidentally break Mr. Grouse's window. Fanfic Lincoln goes upstairs to find Luna crying over Luan's absence. She then suggests staying in his room. He's not pleased because of the events of "Space Invader" (even though, as Lincoln's real sisters point out, Luna would make a way better roommate than Lynn), but she insists, so he caves in.
In Lincoln's room in the fanfic, Luna wants to jam, but Lincoln would rather read comics. She insists, so they play loud music that bothers their siblings for such a long time that they miss dinner. They go to bed, but Luna annoys Lincoln by playing loud music and eating pizza at night. He takes the pizza box down, only for Lori to see him and assume he ordered it. He finds the bin full and goes outside to find Lynn hiding from the music for some reason.
He comes back to find that Luna has written, "Why?!" on the wall in her sleep, is sleep-crying and ranting to "Luan" about her leaving. She then tries to whip him with a belt! This, understandably, shocks the real siblings.
In the morning, story Lincoln is understandably jittery and tells his sisters (sans Luna and Luan) what happened after spending breakfast time trying to avoid Luna and bailing out of another jam session using some acid to melt her speakers. After a bit of convincing, Lisa decides the best thing to do is to get Luan back (even though the real Lisa disagrees and thinks that they should address Luna's psychological issues instead).
The fanfic siblings search for Luan's "acceptance letter" and, when they find it, drive off, while Lisa explains her plan to get Fic!Luan out of camp, which involves provoking a bear. The bear rampages through the camp (meanwhile, Lisa berates her fanfic counterpart) and somehow blows something up. Despite this, they still manage to get Luan back and Luna writes a song dedicated to her brother.
With that, the story ends, and the Loud siblings go out for Chinese.

- Girls Have Cooties: Lincoln comments that his fanfic self's aversion to Luna's hugs and kisses is like a six-year-old boy who thinks girls have cooties.

- While Luan is mainly in-character, it's a bit weird that she told everyone but Luna, her roommate, that she was going to sleepaway camp.
- So many problems with fanfic Luna:
- While Luna may be, as she puts it, a bit "bummed out" if Luan was away at camp, she definitely wouldn't cry about it and she certainly wouldn't have a mental breakdown in her sleep.
- Luna isn't so needy she'd beg Lincoln to bunk with her while Luan was away and then demand that Lincoln jam with him even after he says no, but that's exactly what fanfic Luna does.
- She wouldn't order pizza in the middle of the night, and even if she did, Chunk wouldn't give it to her like he does in the fanfic. She also wouldn't eat maple syrup from the floor.Lola: "What is it with Luna's eating habits in this story?!"
- Luna isn't actually gullible enough to believe a lie that they don't allow rock stars at the park.
- Fanfic Lincoln is annoyed by Luna hugging and kissing him, even though the real Lincoln hugs and kisses his sisters all the time.
- While Lola has watched shows about plastic surgery gone wrong, she wouldn't watch a "dogbite show" like fanfic Lola does.
- Lori wouldn't let Lincoln get away with calling her a dweeb like fanfic Lori does.
- Lynn hides away from the music, even though, as Luna says, if Lynn was afraid of loud music, she'd have PTSD by now.
- A minor one, but fanfic Lisa seems to be a bit strange with nicknames, calling Lincoln a "rodent" and a "mus musculus", and Lola "princess". She also thinks provoking a bear is a good idea.
- Plot Hole:
- Fanfic Luna complains that she's lonely and there's nothing to do in her room... so why can't she just leave her room and/or hang out with her other nine siblings?
- How did fanfic Luna find the belt (which, if it was hers, why was it in her room?) and ink? Much less in her sleep.
- The fanfic siblings are looking for Luan's acceptance letter to find where the camp is, only for Lisa to say that they don't need to look at the letter to find where it is.
- Pun: Fanfic Luan says, "I wouldn't bear to say it!" about the bear in the camp.
- Say My Name:
- Fanfic Lincoln shouts, "LUNA!" upon seeing Luna eating pizza in the middle of the night and again when she follows him down (or "up" according to the narration) to the basement.
- Fanfic Luna shouts, "LUAN!" in her sleep. Lincoln says back, "LUNA?!". Luna shouts Luan's name again in the story when the latter comes back from camp.
- Lisa's siblings shout, "LISA!" to get her to stop mocking the narrator.
- Shaking the Rump: Fanfic Luna apparently shakes her butt whenever she washes Vanzilla. The real Leni says that she does it too.
- Shout-Out:
- When Mr. Grouse complains about his neighbours playing ball in a "neighbourhood where you can hit people", Lisa (the real one) points out that there aren't any neighbourhoods where you can't. Leni then mentions that nobody hits each other on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.
- Lisa and Lola both borrow gags from The Nostalgia Critic (see Department of Redundancy Department and Dramatic Drop above)
- Smart Ball: Leni somehow knows that goldfish don't have short memories, which even Lisa didn't know.

- Stuff Blowing Up: In the fanfic, the bear causes an explosion.
- Talking in Your Sleep: Fanfic Luna rants in her sleep about Luan going away.
- Toilet Humour: Lisa claims that Lynn's flatulence smells like sulphur and gasoline.
- Viewers Are Goldfish: Lisa asks if the story was written for goldfish because it keeps reminding the readers that Luna and Luan aren't present.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Lynn hides near the bin because of the loud music. The real siblings point out the ludicrousness of the idea of Lynn being scared of loud music.
