Recap / Paradise PDS 04E07 "Boat!"

Go To

Charles Lovely buys Paradise for $10,000,000 and Randall wastes it all on a boat. The Brozone Lair gets converted into a sales office for Lovely Corp. The party dudes compete for the most sales, so they can win a six slice toaster.

  • Alternate History: Robby has deteriorated his brain with enough leaded gasoline to give him a warped view of American history. According to Robby, America was founded by a talking schoolbus full of semen named "Christopher Cumbus", who also became the first president, discovered electricity, was the lead singer of Van Halen, and died fighting the outer space dino bots on 9/11.
Delbert: Never forget... that huffing gas is eating a lot of holes in your daddy's brain.
  • Always Someone Better: Randall parades himself around town in The S.S. Cockchugger, loudly announcing to everyone how he has the coolest boat in town. After a few hours or so, of him soaking up the glory, he comes across Vlad, who has a much bigger, more visually appealing speed boat, which puts his little speedboat to shame.
  • The Big Race: Randall and Vlad get into an epic boat race across the town moat to see who truly has "The Coolest Boat in Town".
  • Bounty Hunter: The remaining party dudes all become this when Thester places a bounty on AFKAK, awarding them a six-slice toaster to whoever catches him.
  • Brick Joke: Robby initially thinks the test that Dobby needs to take is a "Sand or Rice" test, before Delbert corrects him by saying it's a standardized test. When it's time for Dobby to take the test, it's revealed that Robby was actually right for once.
  • Call-Back: Bullet, Fitz, and Dusty watch AFKAK's redheaded stepchild porno from "A Star is Porn".
  • Character Development: Dusty justifies his character development into an asshole.
Dusty: I'm Dusty Marlow. I was a sweetheart before I went to lady's prison, and now I don't give a fuck.
  • Crossover Punchline: Robby inhales some leaded gasoline, causing him to hallucinate himself, Belzert, and Dobby as Farzar characters.
    Belzert: You feeling smarter, Flobby?
Flobby: No, I don't think this shit's working, Belzert.
  • Electrified Bathtub: Bullet wants a six-slice toaster so he can kill himself in the bathtub this way.
  • Fantastically Indifferent: Upon seeing Clappers and learning that he was let back into the FBI, AFKAK expresses his surprise about this fact rather than the fact that Clappers is now a pair of pants.
Clappers: Why is that everyone's first question?! I'm pants goddammit!
  • The "Fun" in "Funeral": Randall bolts through the funeral of a paramedic he killed in his speedboat, splashing him with a wave that knocks him out of his coffin and into the moat, leaving his grieving family scrambling to pick him back up.
  • Hidden Depths: Dusty is revealed to have a second life outside of The Brozone Lair, where he hangs out with biker gangs and goes by the name "Brodown McCools". This comes as a shock to everyone.
    Bloodknife: What up, McCools?
Dusty: See you tonight, Bloodknife. We're gunna fuck up those Mayans.
Bullet: ...You uh, care to elaborate, Dusty?
    Dusty: I'm sorry, I don't speak Armenian.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Vlad sings the song "Fuck Boat", which he plans to share with the world. Randall tells him that his song sucks and assures him that people are gunna hate it. Immediately after this, "Fuck Boat" airs on the radio, being touted as the #1 hit in the country.
Randall: God dammit. That shit slaps.
  • Joke and Receive: Camaro Bob jokingly asks if Randall's boat is called "The S.S. Cockchugger", which it was.
  • Killed Off for Real: Vlad is killed off the series in a freak boating accident.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Dusty makes an extremely forced and predictable pun about toast, which nobody laughs at.
Dusty: Oooh, yall are gunna be, dare I say, toast!? You get it?
    • Everyone reacting in such a way to his joke is what they come to soon regret in the end, when Dusty wins the toaster and destroys it so that nobody can have it.
  • MacGuffin: The six-slice toaster is a reward for whoever can sell the most Lovely Corp products. Fitz, Dusty, Hopson, and Bullet all get into a fierce competition over it.
  • Money Dumb: Randall blows every last cent he got from Charles Lovely on building a moat through the streets of Paradise, so he can drive a speed boat called the S.S. Cockchugger around for fun.
Randall: I got the coolest boat in town!
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: Randall goes in disguise as Camaro Bob.
  • Plot Allergy: AFKAK defeats Fred by blowing dandelion seeds at him, which causes his allergies to flare up. His face gets all red and swollen and he falls on the lever to the drawbridge, opening it and allowed AFKAK to get back into town.
  • Previously on…: This episode begins with a "Previously On" segment. However, Hopson fucks with the previous episode clips and just shows a bunch of gross sexual stuff he did in past episodes.
  • Traveling Salesman: The party dudes all get jobs working as this, selling Lovely Corp products to the suburbanites of Paradise.
  • Traveling Salesman Montage: Fitz, Bullet, Dusty, and Hopson all go door to door, soliciting their Lovely Corp Products but people keep slamming the doors in their faces as soon as they open their mouths.
