"The more I see, the more I know. The more I know, the less I understand"
Last Echo's motto

Something strange is occuring in Duckburg. A mysterious organization known as Last Echo has appeared, bent on learning "things" about past mysterious events of the city, Angus is receiving precious information from an anonymous source signed "Beato Angelico" note  and P.B.I. agents Mary Ann Flagstarr and her superior Captain Nimrod take the heat for the leaked information, but something more seems to be afoot. Who's Beato Angelico? Is there really a mole in P.B.I. ?

  • Bad Boss: Eric J. Mitchell is rude, scheming and doesn't falter when it comes to suspending Mary Ann and Nimrod, blaming them for the leak of news. It doesn't help that he's the villain of the story.
  • Beard of Evil: Mitchell sports a classical goattee + Fu Manchu staches which, paired with his Bald of Evil, makes him truly untrustworthy.
  • Call-Back: Among the leaked material researched by Last Echo, there's a blurred picture of Xadhoom, possibly from Shooting Star.
  • Death Glare: Near the end, Mary Ann delivers one to Mitchell's bodyguards when they force her to come out of hiding by threatening Nimrod.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Beato Angelico uses Angus to fuel his plans and sully the reputations of Mary Ann and Nimrod. Angus' presence with a cameraman near the end spoil his plans.
  • Irony: Last Echo is convinced that aliens are real, and are doing their best to find evidence and the truth in order to protect themselves from this threat. However, it's implied they only know of Xadhoom, who's not a threat, rather than the Evronians (who are a threat).
  • Jerkass: Angus is extremely vicious in this issue, best seen when he shows no empathy nor guilt over having caused Mary Ann's ruin, not even as she's confronting him face to face.
  • Karma Houdini: All of Last Echo members are seemingly able to make a getaway and aren't punished for destroying a whole building with firebombs.
  • Kill It with Fire: Last Echo uses a series of firebombs to mine their hideouts and destroy them in case of necessity. The story even opens with Paperinik in the remain of said base.
  • Knowledge Broker: As Mitchell notices, information is the best resource one can trade. He's actually using them to play Last Echo like a fiddle, and feeding morsels to Angus.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Which is immediately lampshaded by Mitchell as he prepares to scold Nimrod and Maru Ann, showing little sense of humour.
"One moment and I'll be all yours. Or rather, you are all mine. It was a joke, of course..."
  • Large and in Charge: Eric J. Michell is the boss of both Nimrod and Mary Ann and is quite large and imposing.
  • Light Is Not Good: The villain of the story goes by the unassuming and celestial name of "Beato Angelico".
  • The Man Behind the Man: Mitchell behind the whole events, especially Last Echo (which may explain how they can have such advanced technology to play with)
  • Not So Harmless: Last Echo is seemingly composed of homeless or poor people. They possess incredibly hi-tech instruments and gadgets.
  • Ramming Always Works: Near the end, Mitchell is able to ram through the P Kar without damaging is how vehicle.
  • The Stinger: A stranger in Tokyo receives a mail from Beato Angelico... and deletes it without reading.
  • Thinking Out Loud: Mitchell is introduced doing this, pondering on the value and power of information. He then scolds himself for talking to himself.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: The members of Last Echo are creepy paranoids who nonetheless believe they're doing the right thing, unaware that Mitchell is using them.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The whereabouts of Last Echo are unknown.
