Something strange is happening to all computers and devices around the world, mysterious malfunctions and inexplicable glitches. Things gets seemingly critical when even One is infected by the virus and starts losing his efficiency pretty soon. In order to stop the threat of this virus, PK has to return to New Zealand and join forces... with Angus, of all people.
- Big Bad: Fenimore Cook, though unlike the last time, he's more directly involved in the story.
- Big Damn Heroes: Just as Fenimore's guards have surrounded PK, Mood and Angus, the truckers they insulted early on arrive on the scene, bent on revenge. Thankfully, they don't like Cook either, so they start from beating up the guards first.
- Big Eater: Angus Fangus is seen having a massive breakfast which covers pretty much the entire table in food.
- Bond Villain Stupidity: Apparently Loke noticed the rescue attempt, but didn't move a finger to help the guards just to make a point.
- Call-Back: When Angus and PK partecipates to the clan's reunion, Rangi recounts the events from Invasion.
- Chekhov's Gunman: The trucker gang PK and Angus run afoul of. They end up saving them in the climax.
- Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Because of the virus, One acts less and less like himself, which is symbolized by him acting childishly and suddenly being surrounded by virtual green bunnies and gnomes he talks to. Thankfully Mood's antivirus restores him to normal.
- Combat Pragmatist: Lampshaded when Angus gets into a fight with some mooks.
PK: "Where did you learn fighting like that?"
Angus: "Back in school"
PK: "In the gym?"
Angus: "Nope, in the couryard"
- Distressed Dude: Adam Mood, a Maori informatic expert who learnt of Loke's virus and found a countermeasure. He's kept prisoner in Cook's base and Loke tries to persuade him to join them.
- Fatal Flaw: Ewan Loke is smart, but he feels that his genius should enable him to do whatever he likes and doesn't appreciate being bossed around by Cook. This proves unwise when he decides to let PK and Angus escape with Adam Mood just to prove his superiority over the guards... only to fail to recapture them.
- Karma Houdini: As mentioned before, Fenimore Cook escaped being prosecuted for the events of Invasion and even by the end of the story he manages to emerge unscathed, though Angus swears to never let him get away.
- Mad Scientist: Ewan Loke, the man behind the virus. Sarcastically lampshaded by Adam.
- Meaningful Name: Loke, after the Norse God of trickery and chaos. He's an amoral Evil Redhead who wants to throw the world into chaos using his special virus.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Paperinik and Angus have to work together to take down Cook. They get along surprisinly well.
- This Is Going to Suck: Paperinik, right after One, malfunctioning, has just loudly insulted a whole bar full of massive truckers.
