This issue contains examples of:

  • Book Ends: In the opening, we see a flashback of young Korinna and Juniper starting a fire and calling it beautiful. The ending has the two of them reunited, looking at the smouldering remains of Ducklair's house.
  • Clothing Damage: PK ends up losing his cape and most of his clothing to a security drone, and later his cape is singed by the fire multiple times.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Birgit plots with vicepresident Gordon Bekko and Korinna solely to get back at Everett for his deceit in The True Enemy. Near the end, she even leaves him in the dark about Korinna's involvement as part of her revenge.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • During the fires, PK actually lets some imprisoned criminals out of their cells so that they can save themselves... he's however smart enough to do so only after the guards are ready to contain them.
    • After the destruction caused by the fires and the fall of Everett's mansion, not even Angus has the gall of being himself and sounds serious and morose as he gives the news.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Fitzroy spend most of the subplot trying to sabotage Rupert's efforts so that he can get Mortimer's place. Rupert's impeccable actions during the fire-caused chaos in the mall prove that he's more than qualified for the job than Fitzroy is.
  • Logical Weakness: The Kinetic Catalyzer is a device capable of manipulating and empowering chemical reactions and turning a regular fire in a giant roaring inferno, but requires specific conditions to work, namely being in a very cold enviroment.
  • Mind Rape: Korinna uses her powers to instill fear in the mind of a security guard who almost stumbled in her hiding spot, forcing him to leave the place.
  • Noodle Incident: Lyo mentions a superhero renown for his edible costume who apparently met his end fighting the "Om-noms" of Betelgeuse.
  • Oh, Crap!: Rupert, when he learns that the "shoplifter" he just tackled is the examiner in disguise.
  • Playing with Fire: Thanks to the Kinetic Catalyzer, Korinna can manipulate and create giant walls of fire from thin oxygen across the entire Duckburg, resulting in the destruction of Ducklair's villa.
  • Running Gag: PK having his costume damaged during the story.
  • The Scapegoat: Gordon Bekko is manipulated by Juniper and Korinna into being their fall guy for the accident with the Catalyzer.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: As soon as Gordon sees what's going on with the Catalyzer, he promptly tries to get all his belongings and run away, only to be stopped by Boring and arrested by the security.
  • Ship Tease: Invoked near the end when Korinna points out that she thougth Juniper had an interest in Paperinik. While she admits she found him interesting, she scoffs, claiming that she won't settle for that little.
  • Shout-Out: While moving through the airways, PK claims that it reminds him of that movie with a certain monster.
  • Spiders Are Scary: During her initial assault on the facility, Korinna dispose of a guard unafraid of a possible meltdown by making him hallucinate a large spider pouncing on him.
  • Take Over the World: What Juniper plans to set for, in reality.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behaviour: The issue opens with a flashback showing a bored Korinna and Juniper on Corona setting a museum ablaze and stare creepily at the flames, calling them "beautiful". They also show no sign of fear upon reuniting with their upset father.
  • You Have Failed Me: Upon learning of the fires and after giving Boring instructions on what to do, Everett still takes some time to tell him that he has failed him. Though no further punishment follows this statement, Anymore's face shows that he's mortified.
