Recap / Our Cartoon President S2E09 "Save the Right"

Go To

The Trump Administration is leading the charge for an Equal Rights Movements for American Conservatives. Meanwhile, Don Jr. experiences parental affection for the first time from Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Affectionate Parody: The A-plot of the episode is framed like a Selma-esq Civil Rights Biopic, but its done for Trump-era Republicans who don't need that kind of social movement.
Ending Tagline: DEDICATED TO ALL THOSE FIGHTING THOSE FIGHTING FOR EQUALITY
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Steve Mnuchin seems to be the Only Sane Man in the episode, pointing out that they all have all the money and the power already, so they aren't a discriminating minority.
Steve Mnuchin: Wow. What a fucking snowflake.
  • Immediate Self-Contradiction: Trump claims that he was just trying to keep his head down while Barack Obama is president. Then it shows him spouting hyperbolic, inflammatory lies towards the Obamas.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Even after given special privileges based off of his party affiliation, Ben Shapiro (and the rest of the GOP) think they are still being discriminated against when some stranger on the street gives him a harmless "good morning".
Ben Shapiro: I'm fine, but I just can't stop thinking about what he meant. "Good morning, you sad pathetic weakling who couldn't even get the teachers to eat lunch with him. You speak quickly and confidently, but deep down you know you're 100% full of shit!"
  • Running Gag: Trump forgetting that he's the president.
  • Take That!: The A-Plot is one big Satire on the victim-complex of people on the Far-Right, particular those who have wealth and power, yet think that being called out for their actions makes them the victims.
Donald Trump: If we're so power, they why are we so whiny?
