Recap / Our Cartoon President S2E08 "Climate Change"

Go To

A heat-wave has hit Washington and Trump decides to ignore the GOP's stance on Climate Change to fix his sweating problem. Bernie Sanders asks Mitt Romney to help spruce up his look.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Bad Is Good and Good Is Bad: Mitt Romney blames losing to Obama during the 2012 presidential election on using his authority as governor to give Massachusetts a comprehensive healthcare plan.
  • Child Hater: Trump decides to reverse his stance on the Green New Deal when it makes him popular with young voters and it makes him sweat with anxiety. He then has a giant A/C system installed into the White House because the emissions with ensure that the planet will become inhospitable for the next generation.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Bernie Sanders is this to his fellow candidates, mainly due to his tendency to spout his rhetoric at the drop of a hat. Being Democrats, they view him more with pity than contempt, Biden trying to interact with him when he sees him alone at a party and giving him advice on cleaning up his image.
  • Heat Wave: The premise of the episode has Trump trying and failing to keep cool as climate change impacts him personally.
  • Skewed Priorities: Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer seem to think that bipartisan civility is more important than preventing global extinction through climate change.
  • Take That!: On climate change deniars. When Trump asks his cabinet who thinks global warming is a hoax, Ben Carson, Betsy DeVos, Mike Pence and Mike Pompeo all raise their hand. Trump takes this as proof that it is real because they're the dumbest ones in the room.
