"Remember Me as a Time of Day" is the twenty fourth episode and Season Finale of the sixth season of One Tree Hill and originally aired May 18th, 2009. The episode was written and directed by Mark Schwahn.

On their wedding night, Lucas rushes an unconscious Peyton to the hospital to try to save his wife and child. Meanwhile, the fate of Nathan's comeback is decided, and he has to face Haley and Jamie. Brooke and Victoria prepare to launch Clothes Over Bro's new line, and Dan takes drastic measures to ensure his story ends how he chooses.

Contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Absurdly Youthful Mother: Lucas teasingly points out to his 40 year old mother that she’s now a grandmother by calling her "Grandma Karen."
  • Artistic License – Medicine: Whilst some surgical suites did include observation rooms, they were used for educational purposes; as such, Lucas would not be allowed to observe Peyton's emergency caesarean - never mind his being joined by Haley, Nathan, Brooke and Julian.
  • Babies Ever After: Lucas and Peyton finally have their happily ever after with their newborn daughter.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When Nathan returns to Charleston, he’s summoned to Bobby’s office - the implication that he’s going to be cut from the team for skipping practice to attend Lucas and Peyton’s wedding. When he returns home, it is instead revealed that he’s been called up to the NBA by the Charlotte Bobcats.
  • Beard of Sorrow: Dan has grown one, having resigned himself to death.
  • Big Damn Kiss: Brooke and Julian's kiss on the movie set after she's finally told him she loves him.
  • Blood-Splattered Wedding Dress: Peyton’s wedding dress has some blood stains after she started haemorrhaging at the end of the previous episode.
  • Call-Back:
    • Whilst sitting on the porch steps, Karen and Lucas reflect on how much time has passed since they were sat there discussing Lucas joining the Ravens in the Pilot.
    • Nathan brings up the time he and Haley took Jamie to visit the Oppenheimer School for the Gifted, and specifically recalls the dress Haley wore, as seen in "I Would For You" earlier this season.
  • Children Are Innocent: Alluded to by Dan - part of the reason he wants to see Sawyer is because she’s the only person in his world who doesn’t see him as a monster.
  • Commuting on a Bus:
    • Karen returns to Tree Hill to meet her first grandchild, and implicitly, help Lucas as Peyton remains in a coma.
    • Dan and Nathan pay separate visits to Whitey.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Nathan arrives at Whitey’s ranch to tell him that he’s been called up to the NBA as Dan is leaving after trying to get Whitey to kill him.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: In the Cold Open, Victoria tells Brooke that there was “Nothing important” to pass on when she asks if she has any messages following Lucas and Peyton’s wedding, intentionally not telling her about Julian dropping by; once Brooke’s finished preparing the designs for the new line, Victoria encourages her to tell Julian how she feels.
  • Downer Beginning: The episode starts with Lucas rushing Peyton to the hospital after she collapsed due to her placenta praevia, and gradually being joined by the rest of the gang (And Julian) at the hospital.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: The opening montage, which cuts between Lucas rushing Peyton to E.R. and the rest of the gang going about their nights, shows Nathan with a bottle of whiskey at the River Court, believing that his NBA dream is over.
  • Imperiled in Pregnancy: Peyton has to undergo an emergency caesarean, and as a result winds up in a coma.
  • Internal Reveal: Peyton finds out that Lucas has repaired the Comet.
  • Light/Darkness Juxtaposition: When Lucas attends to Sawyer in the nursery whilst Peyton is in a coma, darkness prevails the room but there’s still rays of light shining through; after Peyton returns home safely and is seen attending to Sawyer in the nursery, light prevails the room.
  • Love Confession: Brooke finally tells Julian she loves him.
  • Meaningful Name: Lucas and Peyton name their daughter Sawyer Brooke Scott - Sawyer for her mother’s maiden name, and Brooke after her Honorary Aunt.
  • No Name Given: Lucas refuses to name his daughter without Peyton, even telling his comatose wife that she needs to wake up so they can name her; fittingly enough, Peyton’s first words upon waking up are to name her daughter.
  • Pet the Dog: Peyton allows Dan a moment with Sawyer, but makes it perfectly clear that moment is all he will ever have with her.
  • Shout-Out: Dan quotes Where the Wild Things Are as he holds Sawyer, saying he used to read it to Nathan as a child.
  • Suicide by Cop: A variation - Dan tries to provoke Whitey into killing him, pointing out that he’d successfully be able to argue it was self-defence.
  • This Just In!: Mouth is handed the news story of Nathan being called up to the Charlotte Bobcats just before he goes on air.
  • Titled After the Song: The episode title is taken from the song "Remember Me as a Time of Day" by Explosions In The Sky.
  • Truth in Television: Due to the emergency nature of Peyton's caesarean, Lucas would not be able to stay with her during the surgery. This stands in contrast to Lilly's birth, where there was enough time to prep Lucas so he could stay with Karen.
