Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 13 Girls Day Out

Go To

After Dolly and Delilah have a falling out on Mother's Day, Doug arranges for them to spend time together at the doggy day spa.

This episode features examples of:

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Delilah saves a cat from choking on its own fur ball; unfortunately, the spa workers think that Delilah was attacking said cat. The cat later helps Delilah and Dolly escape the spa by tripping up the spa workers, as thanks to Delilah.
    • Dolly also warms up to Delilah after the latter defends her from the insults of the other spa dogs.
  • Blank White Eyes: Dolly gets these when she runs into Hansel at the spa and he asks what her name is.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: During Dolly and Delilah's fallout over the former's awry Mother's Day gift, both girls actually provide good points.
    • In Dolly's case, Delilah was unnecessarily harsh to her and refused to let her explain her side of the story. Delilah wishing Dolly to be more like Dylan, in particular, was the cause for Dolly's jerkish behavior in the first place.
    • In Delilah's case, Dolly caused the whole mess since she did bring her orchids - which she, was allergic to - in the first place (not to mention the fact that Dolly is generally much more irresponsible and impulsive than Dylan is). Had Dolly thought of a different gift, chances are that Delilah would have been far more lenient on her. Even then, having to work almost every day - as well as having to deal with such a difficult daughter - would have stressed Delilah out anyway, so it's hard to really blame her for being mad at Dolly for rudely awakening her.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Dolly is able to use the Heimlich maneuver, which she saw Delilah use on a cat earlier, in order to help them escape the cages they're held in.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Delilah, as this episode focuses on her and Dolly during Mother's Day.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When Dolly compliments Delilah on the way she saved the cat with a hair ball stuck in its throat, she realizes she can use the same method to get the two out of the cages they're trapped in.
  • Gross-Up Close-Up: We get one on Dolly's dirty paw and chipped claws as she prepares to get a manicure.
  • Karma Houdini: Dolly suffers no consequences for upsetting her siblings before going to the spa, nor does she get called out for it.
  • Kick the Dogs: When Dylan tries to reason with Dolly about her relationship with Delilah, Dolly just snaps out loud how she believes Dylan is Delilah's "favorite." This in turn hurts the feelings of every other puppy in hearing range, who all thought they were her favorite.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Clarissa mocks Dolly at the spa. Later, when Delilah performs the Heimlich maneuver on a cat choking on its own fur ball, said fur ball is sent flying into Clarissa's face.
  • Mama Dog: While at the dog spa, some of the other dogs, mainly Clarissa, make snide remarks about Dolly, to which Delilah does not take well.
  • My Dog, What Have I Done?: Delilah realizes her mistake after Dylan tells her that Dolly was only trying to surprise her with breakfast in bed on Mother's Day.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Delilah grumpily misunderstanding Dolly's efforts to surprise her on Mother's Day causes Dolly to snap and act bitter for the first half of the episode.
    • Dolly is just as much to blame, if not more so, as said fallout wouldn't have happened if she hadn't forgotten about her mother's orchid allergy in the first place.
  • Plot Allergy: We learn that Delilah is allergic to orchids in this episode.
  • Puppy-Dog Eyes: Doug uses this on Delilah and Dolly to get them to go on a spa day together.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: This happens to Dolly after her fallout with Delilah, as she acts bitter towards her family despite Delilah's attempts to reason with her. She gets better at the spa, though.
  • The Unfavorite: Dolly bitterly believes she is this to Delilah.
  • Why Couldn't You Be Different?: After telling Dolly off for her awry Mother's Day gift, she tells her that she should behave more like Dylan. Considering how irresponsible Dolly is most of the time, however, this statement isn't entirely unjustified.
  • Your Other Left: Dolly yells this at Diesel when he almost topples the puppy tower she and her siblings are making.
