Recap / One Hundred And One Dalmatian Street S 1 E 11 Poetry Scam

Go To

Dolly borrows the poems Dylan wrote to impress her crush Hansel.

This episode features examples of:

  • Bishie Sparkle: These appear as Dolly looks lovingly at Hansel in the opening.
  • Brick Joke: When Dylan says the puppies can go to Dolly's poetry recital if they stay inconspicuous, they start unsuccessfully trying to repeat the word. After Dolly admits at the recital she didn't actually write the poems she recited, one of the puppies finally pronounces the word correctly.
  • Brief Accent Imitation: Diesel does this with the voices his Cone of Shame picks up. His head even morphs to resemble whomever he is imitating.
  • Cone of Shame: Diesel is wearing one to keep him from chewing at his leg stitches. It acts as a satellite dish picking up people's voices, which gives Dolly and Dylan the idea to use one as a makeshift earpiece for Dylan to feed Dolly poems. The Shame part of it is subverted, however, since after Da Vinci paints over it, it gets referred to as a "Statement Cone."
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: At the poetry slam, Dolly decides she'd rather let Dylan have the credit he deserves for his poetry than keep Hansel's affections.
  • Gibberish of Love: Dolly does this when trying to say hello to Hansel.
  • Hypocritical Humor: When Dolly admits the poems she recited were actually Dylan's, Fergus says it's not cool to take stuff that doesn't belong to you right before he takes a sip of a nearby human's drink.
  • Performance Anxiety: Dylan wants to share his poems with the rest of the world, but can't because of this. Dolly helps him overcome it at the poetry recital at the end.
  • Playing Cyrano: Dolly gets Dylan to recite poetry she can recite to Hansel under the pretense of helping him get around his Performance Anxiety.
