Recap / My Little Pony Equestria Girls Digital Series Lostand Pound

Go To

While at the Starswirled Music Festival, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Spike are walking through the food trucks, planning to try all of their food. All of the sudden however, the quartet finds a female puppy covered in mud, named Princess Thunder Guts.

If Princess Thunder Guts approaches Rarity, she quickly becomes attached to her. However, Rarity, repulsed by her mud-covered state, runs away, crashing into several other attendants to the concert in her hurry. Eventually, she crashes into the puppy's owner, whom Rarity recognizes from a poster as Supernova-Zap of Post-Crush, one of the bands performing. As a reward for finding her dog, Supernova gives Rarity a fashionable feather boa.

If Princess Thunder Guts approaches Spike, he gets nervous, having developed a crush on her. Spike quickly gets over his nerves and the two go on a date, with Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy accompanying them and sometimes even playing with them. Just as the two are about to have an Spaghetti Kiss, however, Supernova appears and recognizes Princess Thunder Guts. Heartbroken, Spike watches as she takes her away, though Princess Thunder Guts briefly returns to give Spike a lick on his check, cheering him up.

If Princess Thunder Guts approaches Fluttershy, she simply uses her powers to communicate with her, allowing Fluttershy to identify her as Supernova's pet. After returning Princess Thunder Guts with Supernova, the four resume their plans to eat at the food trucks, with Spike listing all the food trucks they could visit, provoking a slight chuckle from Fluttershy.

Lost and Pound provides examples of:

  • Anti-Climax: Unlike the other endings, Fluttershy's ending is rather simple: She uses her powers to talk with Princess Thunder Guts and easily finds her owner, Supernova-Zap, all in less than ten seconds. Rarity even lampshades how easy Fluttershy's ending turned out to be.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Spike's ending is this. Supernova-Zap and Princess Thunder Guts are reunited, but Spike is heartbroken over watching his crush go, though he is cheered up by Princess Thunder Guts licking his cheek.
  • The Cameo:
    • Flash Sentry makes a non-speaking appearance eating food from one of the food trucks Sci-Twi names in her list.
    • In Rarity's ending, she and Princess Thunder Guts accidentally crash into Bulk Biceps and Derpy Hooves in a photo booth.
  • Last Kiss: Downplayed in that nobody dies, but Princess Thunder Guts licks Spike on his check one last time before leaving.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: Spike's date with Princess Thunder Guts is basically a reminder that Spike is a talking dog. Everything they do is something commonly associated with dogs, from chasing squirrels to even almost having an Spaghetti Kiss.
  • Non-Standard Kiss: Spike and Princess Thunder Guts licking each other's cheek is clearly meant to symbolize a kiss.
  • Punny Names: The names for every food truck is a pun on the food its serving, some better than others, as Twilight points out.
  • Puppy Love: Literally. Spike and Princess Thunder Guts are puppies that fall in love with each other.
  • Shipper on Deck: Sci-Twi and Rarity are clearly this towards Spike's crush on Princess Thunder Guts.
  • Ship Tease: In Rarity's ending, Bulk Biceps and Derpy Hooves are seen on a photo booth before Rarity and Princess Thunder Guts crash onto them.
  • Shout-Out: One of the food trucks is named “Money For Waffles and Chickens not for Free”.
  • Spaghetti Kiss / Almost Kiss: Spike and Princess Thunder Guts almost experience this, but get interrupted by Supernova-Zap.
  • Stock Scream: The Wilhelm Scream can be heard as Rarity crashes into some people while running from Princess Thunder Guts.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: No one seems to be shocked that Spike, a dog, can talk.
