While out on a patrol with Lemillion, Midoriya encounters a girl that seems severely hurt and her yakuza father.

Tropes

  • Ambiguously Gay: Two women who appear at the start of the episode recognize Deku and Lemillion as heroes and excitedly point at them. With the way one of them is holding on to the other's arm, it's implied that they're a couple out on a date.
  • Bad Boss: Chisaki kills the guy in charge of keeping Eri without a second thought and only reacts to his death by telling his mook to clean the resultant blood up.
  • Call-Back: The incident of Chisaki attacking the Reservoir Dogs is brought up again as the thing that started the investigation on him.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Deku can't ignore Eri being in danger, and is concerned for her when she returns to Chisaki despite his best efforts to prevent that. Chisaki later lampshades this as if it's a "disease" that he wants to "cure".
  • Faux Affably Evil: Chisaki tries to pretend he is a loving father with a clumsy, problematic daughter, but it hardly fools anyone, especially with how hurt and terrified Eri looks. The bandages wrapping the girl's arms and legs are a clear red flag that Deku just can't ignore even if he tried.
  • Foreshadowing: According to Nighteye's Foresight, All Might will one die "an unspeakably gruesome death" if he fights a certain villain. Whether or not it comes true remains to be seen, but both All Might and Midoriya hope to defy it should the time comes.
  • The Gloves Come Off: While this trope does not always include literal gloves, Chisaki demonstrates it can by partially taking his left glove off via his index finger; this gesture forces Eri to go with him willingly.
  • Gray Rain of Depression: As soon as Eri is taken by Chisaki, it starts to rain and the sky goes gray.
  • Harmful to Minors: Chisaki paints his minion all over the wall because he lost track of Eri. It happens right in front of her and, the way she reacts to it, it's likely not the first time she's seen it happen, and it doesn't get any easier.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Eri follows Chisaki because she realizes that he might kill Lemillion and Deku if she defies him.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Sir Nighteye isn't very sympathetic when he calls out Midoriya; not for failing to save Eri, but for endangering the overall investigation. Because of how potentially dangerous Chisaki can be, rushing in would only make things worse for everyone, including Eri.
  • Meaningful Name: Togata chose the name "Lemillion" because he wants to save a million people. He admits that he's not guaranteed to save everyone.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: Eri whispers this in fear when she clings onto Deku.
  • The Reveal: After being confronted by Midoriya, All Might reveals that he and Nighteye had a falling out because Nighteye used his Foresight Quirk on him when told not to, as well as their argument about persevering his legacy. The reason for this is because All Might is predicted to die gruesomely at one point, presumably by a villain, and the Pro refused to give up being a hero. Midoriya vows to change that future so All Might can witness the boy's rise to becoming a great hero.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Chisaki asking to talk to Lemillion and Deku in an alleyway is basically this: he will either kill them both where no one can see them, forcing Eri to come with him, or Eri can willingly leave with him to spare both of them. Either way, Chisaki has Eri again.
  • You Have Failed Me: Eri was able to briefly escape Chisaki because her guard only took his eyes off of her for a second. Chisaki kills him unhesitatingly.
