Tropes

  • Bottle Episode: Most of the episode takes place in Sir Nighteye's office.
  • Double-Meaning Title: Deku meets two important characters that shape the arc in this episode, The Pro Hero Nighteye and the yakuza prisoner Eri. The title could realistically refer to either
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Nighteye hears Midoriya's rousing speech about reaching for the top as a hero, but initially refuses to hire him. He then says that Midoriya needs to prove himself to be of use to his group, the same way as All Might became a hero to inspire hope to the citizens. In a way, Midoriya's goal is a bit on the selfish side.
  • Secret Test of Character: Sir Nighteye challenges Midoriya to retrieve a stamp from his hand to approve working for the Agency. Even though Nighteye was planning on bringing Midoriya in no matter what he does, he wants to give him a tough reminder that the boy isn't worthy of wielding One For All. At the very least, his witnessing of Midoriya not causing collateral damage against his All Might collection during the test gives him enough reason to hire him for Work Studies.
  • Serious Business: Midoriya discovers that Sir Nighteye is a huge All Might fan like him, posessing a collection of merchandise. He is criticized for not accurately imitating the man's face, which is why he was angry last episode. Midoriya saves face himself by recalling a past heroic act from All Might as the reason he used that specific look. It also allows him to "pass" Nighteye's test because he did not want to risk damaging a super rare collectable poster.
  • The Reveal: Sir Nighteye is well aware Midoryia possesses One For All, making him yet another Secret-Keeper in All Might's inner circle.
  • The Stinger: Midoriya runs into a mysterious child, or rather the other way around. They then spot an ominous man, Kai Chisaki, the same man that Sir Nighteye is investigating.
