After returning home, Lunella is still traumatized by her encounter with Molecule Man. Sensing her distress, Mimi takes her out to visit her old scientist friends in order to make her suit stronger.

  • Ambiguously Gay: Merle and Matsuye live together and, at one point, Matsuye calls Merle "baby." However, it's not clear if they're actually romantically involved. Although it does bear mentioning that later in "Dancing With Myself", a picture of them shows up on the wall when Lunella's explaining what couples are.
  • An Aesop: Sometimes, it's what you already have that can allow you to deal with anything you are or not prepared for. Mimi tells Lunella an analogy that "a bird doesn't have to trust in the branch it's standing on, but its own wings to carry it". She already has her intelligence to get her through tough situations creatively.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: A scorpion accidentally gets into the lab, grows to a gigantic size, and attacks a nearby town.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Still traumatized from her encounter with Molecule Man, Lunella keeps demanding more upgrades to her suit. Her suit becomes a Swiss-Army Weapon but is too cumbersome to move quickly.
  • Costume Evolution: Lunella gets a new suit in this episode. She takes a few extra steps until it becomes something resembling a Hulkbuster; tanky and powerful but too clunky for multi-use crimefighting. After she accepts her limitations and abilities she has already relied on, Mimi and her friends create a new simpler suit with some gadgets on the side.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Mimi and her friends were once called the Hot Tomatoes. Mimi refuses to explain why.
  • Hard Truth Aesop: All of the gadgets and upgrades in the world are mainly for external protection. Internal trauma continues to exist and affect your performance, but accepting what you have been through can allow you to handle it better. There is also the matter of talking about it; something Lunella has yet to do with anyone.
  • Heroic BSoD: Throughout the episode, Lunella experiences flashbacks of her experience with Molecule Man, resulting in her being afraid of dying or getting hurt.
  • Joke of the Butt: A Running Gag is Moon Girl's new suits having an air bag built into the butt.
  • Mid-Season Upgrade: Not only does Lunella get a new suit in this episode which would continue to be upgraded throughout the season alongside her arsenal of gadgets, but Devil also gets a set of new gadgets he would use throughout the season, in particular a set of arm extenders to make up for his naturally short arms.
  • Noodle Incident: Mimi forbids her friends from telling how their group got the name "The Hot Tomatoes".
  • Recycled Premise. The plot is very reminiscent of the Kim Possible episode "Clothes-Minded", particularly the scene when Lunella's bulky battle-suit makes it impossible to move, let alone fight. Given this series' showrunner also created the former, it's no real surprise.
  • Secret-Keeper: Mimi is the only one in the Lafayette family so far who knows of Lunella's hero career since last season, as well as her harrowing adventure across the multiverse last episode (at least a portion of it). She asks if it's a good idea to let the rest of the family know, but Lunella advises against it, especially since Mimi's scientist past is connected and no one else knows about that yet. They both agree to hold off for now.
    • Mimi's two old pre-Enclave friends agree to help Lunella with her new suit and keep her identity a secret. Unfortunately, Lunella learns in the end that Mimi's past prevents them from visiting them back home until then.
  • Tricked-Out Gloves: One of Lunella's new gadgets is her Thing-a-ma-glove; based on Morlak's multi-purpose ring, the cuffs allow her to change her glove for various functions like a baseball mitt, gecko pads or electrified boxing gloves.
