Lunella is left in charge of the roller rink while her family attends a skating competition. However, her impatience causes problems leading to a showdown with a gravity-based villain.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Hero: While Moon Girl is luring Devil to the car wash for a bath, they accidentally foil Gravitas' bank robbery without even realizing it. This causes him to swear revenge.
  • All Animals Are Dogs: Devil Dinosaur, in the beginning of the episode, does all he can to avoid a bath, then eats out of the garbage right after.
  • All Part of the Show: The crowd at the rink is convinced that the attacking supervillains are all part of an act by Moon Girl.
  • An Aesop: Patience is a virtue.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Manbaby, a baby that accidentally got caught in a growth ray experiment and ended up big enough to wrestle Devil Dinosaur.
  • Atrocious Alias: Instantanegirl's name gets mocked for being hard to pronounce. Casey and Lunella agree to shorten it to "Speedy Girl," much to Instantanegirl's annoyance.
  • Big Eater: Luckily for Lunella, Devil Dinosaur is this, and manages to eat a roller rink's worth of popcorn in at least an hour.
  • Broken Treasure: Adria’s prized turntables are damaged while Devil cleans up a mess of popcorn, leading to Lunella holding a “Moon Girl Night” at the rink to raise money for a replacement.
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • In the first five seconds Devil accidentally bumps an armored car and makes it crash. Turns out Gravitas was driving that, and our heroes foiling his robbery without even realizing it makes him show up later for revenge.
    • The fusion generator that started the whole mess becomes key to saving her rink when using it with Gravitas' gravity arm.
  • Chekhov's Skill: Lunella calculates the volume of popcorn that flooded the roller rink in her head to figure out how long it'd take her to clean up. At the climax, she calculates the volume of gravity nullifying goop Gravitas is carrying in his tank to figure out how long she needs to evade his attacks before he depletes his ammunition.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When trying to get Devil Dinosaur into the car wash, the attendant asks Moon Girl "Is that thing safe?" She thinks he's talking about her helmet.
  • Creative Closing Credits: A looping animation of the confused, glitter-covered Devil Dinosaur rotating in the air, after being suspended by Gravitas' gravity-defying goop.
  • Chekhov's Gun: When taking Devil to the car wash at the beginning of the episode, Moon Girl accidentally causes an armored truck to crash. That truck happened to be driven by Gravitas, who swears revenge later in the episode.
  • Didn't Think This Through: By advertising a Moon Girl night at the roller rink, Lunella and Casey inadvertently let a group of villains know where and when she would be as she is the rising hero of the LES.
  • Elemental Baggage: Gravitas has a finite amount of gravity nullifying goop in his tank, but apparently his gauntlets can synthesize more when connected to a power source like Lunella's fusion reactor.
  • Getting Crap Past the Radar: Moon Girl's duel with Gravitas is backed by an edit of the song "Sweatpants", which mutes the swear words and most of the sexual innuendos, except the last one of:
Bring a girlfriend, man, trouble when I see her
    "Err-eh-err-eh," onomatopoeianote
  • Gone Horribly Right: Lunella uses her inventions to supercharge the slow, tedious work of running the rink. Unfortunately, this results in the rink being filled with kettle corn.
  • Gravity Master: Gravitas’ gimmick is he can shoot a compound from his gloves to levitate objects.
  • Hates Baths: Moon Girl has to trick Devil Dinosaur into the car wash for a bath, and once he figures it out, he refuses to go in. After he does, however, he finds a dumpster and starts eating the garbage inside, requiring a second bath.
  • Kids Love Dinosaurs: Manbaby is only after Devil to cuddle and play with, though he plays rather rough.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: How Moon Girl casually managed to defeat the rocketing Instantanegirl: only move a little to the side.
  • Out Of Control Popcorn: Lunella automates the kettle corn maker, but when she amps up the power to make it go faster, she ends up covering the entire rink in kettle corn. She has Devil come and eat it all, but he accidentally breaks Adria's turntables in the process.
  • Priceless Ming Vase: Adria is shown hugging her turntables before she leaves the rink in Lunella's care. They're later accidentally destroyed by Devil and, because Lunella is unable to fix such an old music system, prompts to buy a new one from the pawn shop.
  • Rule of Three: After beating amateur villains Instantanegirl and Manbaby, Lunella points out that “bad things come in threes”. The third villain is a far more dangerous Gravitas, who has a grudge on Moon Girl for ruining his bank robbery the previous night.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Gravitas' taunt of what the moon has to do with Moon Girl's gimmick, asking if she worships it or something, is probably an allusion to Moon Knight, who does.
    • Casey refers to Lunella as LL Cool Girl.
  • Sorting Algorithm of Evil: The first two villains are ineffectual and less than malicious annoyances. Gravitas on the other hand is presented as a serious and effective threat, with even the Narrator saying, "You in danger, Moon Girl."
  • Tempting Fate: Almost all of Lunella's shortcuts end in disaster thanks to her impatience.
    • She volunteers to watch over the roller rink, but is so bored from maintaining the place, she uses her fusion generator to speed things up, only to flood the rink with popcorn and skates.
    • Instead of taking her time and find an effective way to clean the mess, she has Devil scarf up the popcorn. It seems to work until he accidentally destroys her mom's turntables.
    • Casey instigates an idea to have Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur appear in the rink and attract the town on a Slow Tuesday. They make a large cash earning and celebrate, believing that nothing bad will come out of this... Until the bad guys show up.
  • Victory by Endurance: Moon Girl remember's Mimi's earlier advice about patience and defeats Gravitas by letting him run out of his anti-gravity compound, evading his shots until he's all out of juice.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: Moon Girl's fight with Instantanegirl is over before it even begins, as all Moon Girl does is slightly dodge as Instantanegirl overshoots her speed and slams herself unconscious into a wall.
