Recap / Monkie Kid S 1 E 3 Coming Home

Go To

When Mei, a member of the Dragon Family, and MK house sit, DBK's minions attempt to infiltrate the house and steal the legendary Dragon Blade.

Tropes:

  • Ancestral Weapon: The Dragon Blade, a weapon created by the Dragon of the West Ao Ji, that would be passed down from generation to generation. Mei would ultimately inherit the weapon by the episode's end.
  • All Is Well That Ends Well: Mei's parents aren't that upset that most of the house is wrecked while Mei recovered the Dragon Blade from a Demon Bull Clone. Though it may be another story should her father learn that MK destroyed his prized pinball machine.
  • Little "No": Dropped by MK when he realizes he just broke the pinball machine.
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: Mei seems to notice something... odd while preparing stuff for her time with Sandy and MK.
Mei: (While running around her house) Party! Board Games! Snacks! Bull Clone! (Cue her slowly peeking back into the room as she and General Ironclad look at each other for a few seconds) ...wait a minute, you're a Bull Clone!
  • Elite Mook: Compared to other Bull Clones, General Ironclad, Bull Clone sent to steal the Dragon Blade seems much more advanced, being much harder for Mei to take down compared to MK taking down an army of Bull Clones, at least until she picks up and uses the Dragon Blade against him.
  • Get Out!: Mei says this to general Ironclad and showed him the door with the power of the dragon.
Mei: Get out of my house.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The Genki Girl Mei tones herself down a bit for most of the episode when she is tasked with watching her house and all of its artifacts. As a descendant of the Dragon of the West, she feels like she has a lot to prove.
  • Priceless Ming Vase: By the time Mei boots General Ironclad out of her house, half of it is destroyed, along with most the artifacts inside. Her parents aren't too phased since they can easily replace them all. The father's pinball machine? Not so much.
  • Wave-Motion Gun: The Dragon Blade is capable of firing one that Mei uses to instantly take down General Ironclad.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: Mei feels she doesn't feel qualified enough to wield the Dragon Blade and also to please her parents. She accomplishes the latter after making use of the former's power, not caring about her ancestors' judgement, but rather her family itself.
