Recap / Mobile Suit Gundam 00 S 1 E 18 The Aim Of Evil Intents

Go To

The Trinitiies begin their interventions in earnest, annihilating several military bases to the last man for no conceivable reason. Setsuna wonders if this is really the sort of thing that Gundams should be doing.

The Trinities' interventions lead the three power blocs to consider joining forces to stop the Gundams. Ian, who investigated the Trinities' ship reveals that he discovered that the Thrones use pseudo-GN Drives which have finite energy unlike those used by Ptolemios's Gundams. Tieria tries to find what Nena accessed in Veda, but finds that his access those files is restricted.

Graham and Daryl visit Howard's grave. Graham vows to honor Howard's memory by defeating the Gundams with a Flag. Kinue meets with a survivor from the joint military exercise, who tells her that he saw Nena briefly get out of her Gundam and mention someone named Laguna. After Kinue and the soldier part ways, someone shoots the soldier dead.

Louise calls Saji at her cousin's wedding, only for her call to get dropped thanks to GN Particles when the Thrones fly overhead. Nena sees the wedding, decides that she hates the idea of people having fun while she and her siblings are working so hard. Nena opens fire. The first shot orphans Louise. The second buries her under a pile of rubble.

Saji is worried that he hasn't heard from Louise in a while. He investigates and finds that she was hospitalized after an accident. Graham finds Billy working on his flag despite his injuries. Their conversation is interrupted when an alarm goes off. The Thrones are attacking a Union weapons factory that is entirely staffed by civilians.

Graham arrives too late to save the factory, so he decides to get revenge against the Trinities instead. He attacks the Throne Eins and cuts off its arm, capturing its beam saber in the process. The Trinities are forced to retreat. Graham can't pursue because the G forces have wrecked havoc on his body.

Saji arrives in Spain and rushes to the hospital where Louise is. Saji, unaware of what exactly happened to her, gives her half of the pair of rings that she wanted so badly back in Episode 15 (the other half of the pair is for him). Louise apologizes: she can't wear the ring because she's lost her left arm. Later, Saji learns the details of what happened to Louise and that something about Nena's beam rifle shot is preventing the doctors from regenerating her arm.

As the Trinities move on to their next mission, they are intercepted by Setsuna, who declares them to be promoters of conflict and attacks.

Tropes used in this episode:

  • Blood from the Mouth: The extreme G forces Graham experiences while using his Flag against the Trinities cause him to experience this.
  • Break the Cutie: Louise loses her entire family as well as her left arm.
  • Evil Is Petty: Nena attacks the wedding simply because she can't stand people having more fun than she is.
  • Knight Templar: Unlike the Ptolemios Gundam Meisters, the Trinities have a complete disregard for civilian casualties.
