Art by Crash X Fusion: Yeah, this one's hard to explain.

Amity goes to the Owl House to tutor Luz and learns a few things about the human girl and her home life, before they end up having to fight a monster.

Tropes that appear in this Chapter:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: That is to say Vocal appearance: Skara and Amelia make their speaking debuts between "The Intruder" and "Covention" instead of in "Once Upon a Swap".
  • Agony of the Feet: Luz steps on a Lego piece King left on the floor.
  • All Just a Dream: The chapter begins with Amity initially being praised by her teachers, Lilith and her mother for her progress only to start suffocating at the hands of the mummy girl and a pale version of herself before waking up.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Eda strays into this territory by bringing up several embarrassing memories about Luz in front of Amity. Willow tries to comfort Luz by mentioning how her dad shows her baby pictures to his coworkers, but admits being reminded of "the first pie" is pretty bad.
  • Call-Back: Luz has bandages on her arm due to the events of the previous chapter.
  • Catapult Nightmare: Amity after her above mentioned dream.
  • Cut Himself Shaving: Luz passes off the injury on her arm as the result of a fight when Amity questions it.
  • Death Glare: Amity shoots one at Amelia when she tries to mention that Amity wanted her and Skara to accompany her to Luz's house.
  • Deus ex Machina: Luz dubs Willow as this as she's the only one who can defeat the Piranha Plant monster.
  • Embarrassing Damp Sheets: As Eda reveals, Luz had a bed-wetting habit until she was nine.
  • Everyone Has Standards: After hearing About Levi Thians, Luz states that mugging is the lowest thing a criminal can do and it's beneath her and Eda. Pickpocketing is acceptable, though.
  • Eye Twitch: Amity gives one off after seeing the snack foods in the couch cushions.
  • Gossipy Hens: There have been several rumors spread over how Eda acquired Luz and what the young human is capable of.
  • In Spite of a Nail:
    • Willow is finally switched over to the Plant track despite a different situation leading up to it.
    • The chapter ends with Luz learning one of her paintings was submitted to an art contest at the Covention, forcing her to attend.
  • Luminescent Blush: Luz after Eda brings up her former bed-wetting habit, then Amity as Luz drags her out of the house to help Skara and Amelia.
  • Man-Eating Plant: The Piranha Plant.
  • Mythology Gag: The outfit Luz wears after changing for her tutoring session is the same outfit her beta design wears (minus the beanie.)
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Skara is shown to be rather morbid, describing an entire disturbing scenario about how Luz could potentially sacrifice someone to Eda. She's also fantasized how her death will play out.
  • Noodle Incident: Another student named Levi Thians was mugged while getting comics after the boiling rain ended.
  • The Reveal: Amelia makes an off-hand mention that she has a cousin who goes to Glandus High.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Already feeling embarrassed because of Eda bringing up how she learned to read and her old bed-wetting habit in front of Amity, Luz heads straight for her room before Eda can mention her "first pie".
  • Shout-Out:
  • Song Parody: The featured song is one of Tim Curry's "I Want to Rock".
  • Spit Take: Once Skara brings up the muggings, Amity does one with her tea claiming there was something in it (she might not have been wrong though).
  • Wham Episode: Willow is officially transfered to the plant track.
