Volume 2 contains particular-to-this-volume examples of:

  • Adapted Out: Due to the anime being a Compressed Adaptation, scenes that were originally in the light novels such as Tigre's subjugation of the Belfort Bandits were left out.
  • Anti-Villain: The only reason Mila cooperates with the Thenardiers is that she is dispatched to fight against Elen on his behalf. She comes out of this and becomes a heroine once she finds out Tigre’s sincerity at the end of Volume 2.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Tigre rescues Mila just in time from being killed by the last Serrash assassin during her fight at the Tatra Mountains.
  • Big Door: The large, armed door at Mila's Fortress in Olmütz. Elen and Tigre knock it down to fight the Olmütz army in the climactic battle.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Mila pulls a Heel–Face Turn, the Serrash assassins are dead, Territoire is saved and the feud between Leitmeritz and Olmütz is over, but Ganelon and Thenardier are still out there and Brune is still having its civil war.
  • Character Death: The Serrash assassins and Donalbein.
  • Cranial Eruption: Both Elen and Mila get these from Sofya to stop their arguing.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Elen fights off a group of bandits threatening Territoire and the Serrash assassins, ends up on the receiving end of Mila’s ambush in Olmütz, and finally, she has her army infiltrate the Tatra Fortress.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Elen starts to get really jealous of Tigre befriending Mila.
  • Defector from Decadence: When Thenardier sends the Serrash assassins after Mila, she defects from him at the end of the volume.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Mila is hostile towards Tigre at first. When Tigre reveals his true intentions to keep Alsace safe, Mila eases up on him and even bids him farewell towards the end of the volume.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: In episode 4, Tina and Liza are present at Elen's audience with Viktor.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • Sofy is introduced during Elen's meeting with King Viktor as she leaps to Elen's defense.
    • Mila's introduction involves her arguing with Elen after her meeting with Viktor before Sofy calms them down.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After spending most of the volume on Thenardier's side, Mila finally turns on him after realizing Tigre's true intentions, later becoming one of his closest allies.

  • I Gave My Word: At the end of the volume, Tigre kills the last Serrash assassin attempting to kill Mila as thanks for her tea.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Mila uses her Shero Zam Kafa to kill most of the Serrash assassins this way. The only survivor makes his way into Elen's battle at the Tatra Mountains.
  • Instant Ice: Just Add Cold!: In the climactic battle at the end of the volume, Mila uses her Eisberg technique to freeze the citadel's moat.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Mila when Tigre walks in on her in the hot springs.
    • Mila again when she and the others are cornered by the Serrash assassins.
    • Elen's reaction when her Ley Admos technique alerts Mila's soldiers to her presence, followed by Mila when Elen finally infiltrates the citadel in Olmütz.
