Recap / Legacies S 3 E 14 This Feels A Little Culty

Go To

Josie is worried that Lizzie might be in danger at the witch retreat after losing contact with her and recruits Hope to help investigate what's really happening at the retreat. Meanwhile, Alaric helps Dorian track down MG to disprove Dorian's suspicions that MG has become a Ripper and is responsible for a string of disappearances in the area. Back at the Salvatore school, tensions flare up among the werewolf pack when Finch refuses to follow the pack's rules and challenges Jed for the Alpha position.

Tropes

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The pool game between Jed and Finch for her Alpha challenge is extremely one-sided in her favor. Jed takes exactly one shot and misses before Finch runs the table on him, but it's ultimately subverted when she intentionally scratches on the 8-ball to let him win.
  • Human Sacrifice: The ritual that the cult leader is attempting to perform involves one. She intends to use Lizzie as the sacrifice after the latter snaps out of the cult's brainwashing, but ends up using herself when Lizzie is able to snap Josie and Hope out of the brainwashing and the three of them subsequently disrupt the ritual.
  • I Let You Win: It turns out that Jed is not as good at pool as he thought he was because the other werewolves like having him as their Alpha and have been intentionally throwing games against him. Finch does the same at the end after seeing how devastated Jed would be at his loss.
  • Kill It with Fire: MG removes his daylight ring and allows his hand to catch fire in the sunlight in order to kill the Wendigo by melting its heart of ice.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jed when Finch shows up for the pool game with her own personalized cue, clearly good at it. Then one of the other wolves admits the rest of the pack has been letting him win all this time so he's really not that great at pool. And then Finch's first shot sinks half the balls.
  • Title Drop: Hope says the title word for word after she and Josie discover what's happening at the witch retreat.
  • Wendigo: The Monster of the Week is one and it is the creature actually responsible for the recent string of disappearances that Dorian wrongly suspects MG of causing.
