- Cryptic Conversation: Lampshaded. Belos tries this when trying to enroll Luz at Hexside, cryptically saying that he wishes to enroll someone. Cue a few seconds of dead silence before Camila reveals that said person is their daughter, and teases her husband for trying to do this trope.
- Domain Holder: Belos can do things like spontaneously create rooms and doors in the castle.
- Fake-Out Opening: The chapter opens with Belos accusing Luz of having committed some unspeakable betrayal against him, while she begs for the chance to explain. It quickly becomes clear that said betrayal was eating what they thought was the last of her mother's chocolate coconut cookies.Camila: You both are so dramatic for your own good, we have more cookies right here.
- In Spite of a Nail: Every major story beat from the A-plot of "I Was A Teenage Abomination" happens here. The only plot points that don't reappear is Luz almost getting dissected (since Amity recognizes Luz, she just tells Principal Bump that there's an intruder), and Luz not getting banned from the school grounds.
- Jerkass Has a Point: While she's mean about it and wrongly assumes Luz loves stirring up trouble on purpose, Amity is right that Emperor Belos being her father was the only thing shielding Luz from facing the consequences she would have gotten in canon.
- Power Limiter: While in canon Magic Staffs and their Palismans are used to enhance a witch's power, here Belos has his staff for the exact opposite. The Titan's "blessings" make his and Luz's magic so insanely powerful that it's difficult to control, so Belos' staff helps him channel his spells easier. He shoots down the idea of Luz getting her own until she can figure out how to control her spells better.
- Re-Cut: The version of this chapter on AO3 combines what was two chapters on FFN; a "filler chapter
