Tropes

  • Blofeld Ploy: After suggesting that one of the henchmen (Wagner, Albi, Reggie, and Flutura among them) in the room with him is the one who ratted them out, Kosta rounds on a random mook named James, slices off his tongue, and sticks it to the wall of his office as a warning of what will happen to the rat when they are discovered.
  • The Bus Came Back: Nova makes an appearance after being absent in the last episode.
  • Call-Back: The lawsuit concerning the assault on Bell's nephew in Season 1 finally seemingly reaches a settlement. A rather hefty one at that, complete with a written acknowledgment that his race played a part.
  • Corruption of a Minor: Lewis, who realizes that Stabler is not the real Eddie Wagner (as the real Eddie was an abusive bastard), still wants to follow in his footsteps and learn about him (not knowing Stabler is really a cop.)
  • Dark and Troubled Past:
    • Flutura reveals to Stabler/Wagner that her father sold her into sex slavery and she was only spared this becoming her future by Albi marrying her.
    • Stabler learns for the first time that Eddie Wagner was a father and an abusive one at that.
  • Doing Research: Jet gets called out for somehow missing the fact that the real Eddie Wagner had a son. She then performs some quick re-research to inform Stabler that Wagner was hardly there for any of his kids and was extremely abusive to them whenever he was.
  • Failed a Spot Check: A virtual version. After Lewis shows up at the bar Stabler and Flutura was at, Stabler gets annoyed at Jet for not finding out that the real Eddie Wagner had a son. Jet blames it on most of the background research on Wagner being analog.
  • Hired to Hunt Yourself: Stabler is ordered by Kosta to find the mole (himself, an undercover cop in his organization) and prove that he isn't it through doing so.
  • Irony: In contrast to the past several episodes of being told not to let his double life as Eddie Wagner get the best of him, Stabler gets told by Bell to maintain his cover as a "piece of trash" in regard to Eddie Wagner's son Lewis showing up due to the fact that the real Eddie Wagner was an abusive jerk of a father. Come the end of the episode, it's revealed that Lewis already knows Stabler is not Wagner for this same reason.
  • Nervous Wreck: Reggie becomes increasingly agitated when Kosta tasks him to kill Garcia as he sees it as an opportunity to rise up in the ranks. Unfortunately for him, he kills his wife instead and is arrested shortly afterward.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Kosta warns Albi to finish the job Reggie failed to do, despite the fact that Albi himself volunteered.
  • The Reveal: Lewis has already figured out that Stabler is not his father Eddie Wagner.
  • Survivor Guilt: After Garcia's wife dies, he tells the press he wishes he had died instead of her.
