Tropes

  • Affectionate Nickname: Rita's "Monte Cristo" nickname for Stabler now becomes "Officer Monte Crisco" after he rescues her and reveals that he's a cop.
  • Auction: Ross's party is actually two auctions - a legitimate one that is auctioning off art pieces and a covert Auction of Evil that is auctioning off jewelry, which turns out to be a disguise as they were actually auctioning off the girl who was wearing that particular piece of jewelry. Bell realizes it when she notices her tablet and someone else's tablet have different items.
  • Becoming the Mask: Once again brought up, this time by Benson asking Stabler to make sure that it's him and not his cover Eddie Wagner who comes out of the operation unscathed.
  • Cassandra Truth: Bernadette's medication goes missing, and she accuses Eli of stealing them. Neither Stabler nor Kathleen believes her, thinking she's having another memory relapse. But near the end of the episode, Liv finds some dropped pills that Eli left in the bathroom, confirming that he was stealing them. Stabler apologizes to Bernadette afterward.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Ross is a real estate mogul who allows his art auction to be used as a front for the Albanians' human trafficking operation.
  • Crossover: Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit appear as Captain Olivia Benson and Sergeant Fin Tutuola, respectively.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Brewster is rather taken aback when he sees Bell in her formal evening wear. Finn quickly informs him that she's married.
  • Piggyback Cute: Sort of - Stabler carries Flutura on his back to help her escape the party.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely:
    • Flutura tells Stabler this in a rare male example.
    • While Bell is usually well dressed (as she's a police sergeant), she looked especially stunning in the dress she wears to Ross's party.
  • Shout-Out: Jet refers to Flutura as Madame Defarge, the main villainess from A Tale of Two Cities. No one else seems to get the reference, though.
    • Olivia seemingly does as she grins when Jet explains the reference. Considering the fact that Olivia’s mother was an English professor, this qualifies as a bit of Fridge Brilliance.
  • Undercover Cop Reveal: Stabler purposely reveals his true identity to Rita.
  • Wham Line: Delivered after the busted auction tips the Albanians off that something is amiss in their organization.
Flutura (stating what is obviously on the mind of everyone else in the room): "Someone has BETRAYED us!!!"
