Kookaburra successfully usurps Koala Man's position as Dapto's defender. As the locals prepare for a sweltering Christmas, a bushfire ignites and puts the whole town in danger. Can Koala Man make it back to his beloved hometown in time? And just who is the Kookaburra?

Tropes:

  • An Ass-Kicking Christmas: The episode is set during Christmas in Australia and sees the final confrontation of Koala Man and the Kookaburra.
  • Art Shift: When Mindy shows Koala Man the 7th dimension that's home to Zoala Man, the scene is created with stop-motion.
  • Artistic License – Space: One alternate Koala Man is claimed to be on a planet 958 trillion light years away. While we don't know what lies beyond the observable universe, it is only 93 billion light years acrossnote .
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: After Mindy died, she ascended to the Koala Realm where she's at peace with the cosmic koala spirits and tells Koala Man that he'll ascend to the Koala Realm someday.
  • Back for the Finale: As Liam begins his new life on Hollywood Island, the Tall Poppy, who hasn't made a physical appearance since his debut, welcomes Liam to the island and tells him he's gonna love it here.
  • Bad Santa: Australia has their own Santa Claus called Summer Santa who's a bogan and his sleigh is pulled by flying kangaroos. After the climax of the episode, when Kevin makes a Christmas wish to have Liam wake up from his psychic coma, Summer Santa hears and casually grants his wish.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Koala Man returns to Dapto and he's praised for saving the town from the bushfire with the Kookaburra's help. He and the Kookaburra are able to settle their grudge and the Kookaburra decides to settle in Albion Park to be the hero there to atone for his actions. After her rousing speech towards the Daptonians, Vicky decides she wants to run for town counsel. On the downside, Alison finally becomes the most powerful girl in her school, but she loses Rosie in the process and still has plans to become even more powerful. Liam has finally awaken from his psychic coma, but he loses his psychic powers and feels like he doesn't belong in Dapto anymore, so Alison gives her ticket to Hollywood Island to him to find his purpose.
  • Bottomless Bladder: As the Kookaburra reveals his identity he states he's been holding in his urine for thirty years. When he finally releases it, it's enough to douse the fire that nearly consumed Dapto.
  • Bury Your Gays: Alison reveals she has fallen in love with Rosie and she reciprocates her feelings. But their relationship is cut short when Rosie sacrifices herself to save Alison from her sisters.
  • Can't Live Without You: Alison tragically learns that if one of the Rosies dies then the other two will die at the same time.
  • The Chosen One: Kevin was destined to become Koala Man, as there exists one on every planet, in every dimension, each behaving exactly as he does.
  • Create Your Own Villain: Kevin not allowing Christopher to use the restroom because he lacked a hall pass was the biggest mistake he has ever made because it led to a chain of events that ruined Christopher's life. While Christopher's parents are driving him home, his father makes fun of him for peeing his pants, but he wasn't paying attention to the road and got into a car crash, leaving Christopher the only survivor but with a mangled face. Because the doctors were unaware that his grandmother needed his parents' help to get her medication, she ends up dying because she's unable to reach her medication located on a high shelf, leaving Christopher the only one left in his family. With his entire family dead, the only thing he has left was his grandmother's pet kookaburra who he despises and later kills. Killing the kookaburra ends up driving Christopher insane and he would later become the Kookaburra so he can never pee again and take revenge on Kevin.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: After Liam wakes up from his psychic coma and reveals his psychic powers are gone, he tells his family he felt connected to the world around him, and now that he lost his powers, he feels like he no longer belongs in Dapto. Kevin tries to comfort him by telling him he'll always belong to Dapto and he'll be here forever, but that just makes him more miserable. Feeling bad for Liam, Alison gives him her tickets to Hollywood Island that she and Rosie were originally going to use before Rosie's death so Liam can have to new start. He's even greeted by the Tall Poppy once he enters the island.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: Rosie 2 dies in Alison's arms as she succumbs to the poisonous dart she took for her.
  • Didn't Think This Through: When a fire breaks loose through Dapto, the Kookaburra tries to put out the fire by blowing it out by flapping his wings at it. But he ends up literally fanning the flames and made the fire bigger.
  • Dramatic Unmask: When Vicky goes to take Liam out from the hospital, the Kookaburra reveals he was waiting for her, and then he removes his mask to reveal to her his identity: Principal Bazwell.
  • Dying Declaration of Love: Just before Rosie 2 succumb to the poisonous dart she took to protect Alison, Alison tells her she loves her and Rosie 2 returns her feelings and then congratulates her for finally becoming the most powerful girl at school.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite everything Christopher put him through, Koala Man forgives him since they both worked together to save Dapto and Koala Man realized it's his fault his actions led to him becoming the Kookaburra.
  • Foreshadowing: Back in "Deep Pockets", Liam, with the aid of his newly acquired psychic powers, foretells Alison that her pursue of popularity will end in heartbreak. During her pursuit to become the most powerful girl in school, she ends up falling in love with Rosie, but Rosie ends up sacrificing herself to save her from her evil sisters. Before she dies, Rosie happily congratulates Alison for finally becoming the most powerful girl in school, but Alison is too sadden by her death to feel any joy for her success. In the end, Alison finally achieved becoming the most powerful girl in school, but at the cost of losing the girl she loves.
  • He's Back!: After Koala Man is reborn back to Earth, he loses his beard, regains his energy, and gets a new koala mask. Once he puts his new mask on, he says "Fuck yeah".
  • Heroic Sacrifice: When Rosie 3 shoots a poisonous dart at Alison, Rosie 2 jumps in front of the dart to save her. The dart not only kills her, but it kills the other two Rosies since they share the same life.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Rosie 3 pulls out a blowgun to shot a poisonous dart at Alison, but Rosie 2 jumps in front of the dart to protect her, resulting in her death. And since all the Rosies share the same life, all of them end up dying.
  • It Is Not Your Time: After Mindy brings Koala Man to the Koala Realm and lets him know of his destiny, she tell him it's not his time to die yet as he's needed back on Earth to protect Dapto.
  • Knockout Gas: After Vicky punches Principal Bazwell for stranding Kevin on Toothbrush Island for a month, Bazwell lays an egg and when it cracks it releases knockout gas that puts Vicky to sleep.
  • Mistaken for Prank Call: During the stinger, Koala Man gets a call from a mysterious group called the Uncommonwealth where they formally invite him to join their group, but Koala Man hangs up on them thinking they're telemarketers.
  • Open-Minded Parent: When Alison gets a call from "Rosie" saying she's in trouble, she tells Vicky she needs to go help her but Vicky wants her to come with her so they can move Liam out from the hospital. When Alison reveals she's in love with Rosie, Vicky was initially surprised by her daughter coming out but she happily accepts her relationship with Rosie and tells her to go be with her.
  • Precision F-Strike: After being reborn back to Earth and getting a new koala mask, he says "Fuck yeah" and that's his swear for the year spent.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Alison finally becomes the most powerful girl in the school after all the most popular girls in school are removed. But she and Rosie 2 ended up falling in love with each other, and after Rosie 2 sacrificed herself to save her from her sisters, Alison is still sadden by her death to enjoy her success. But is now determined to continue rising up and eventually take over all of Australia (quite possibly to do Rosie's place).
  • Queer Establishing Moment: After Rosie comforts Alison after dealing with her father's assumed death, her mother in mourning, and Liam being in a psychic coma, they both hug and Alison gives Rosie a quick kiss on the lips and then apologizes for doing that, but Rosie tells her she doesn't mind it and happily accepts her feelings for her.
  • Same-Sex Triplets: Rosie reveals she part of an identical triplet of sisters who share the same first name and she's Rosie 2.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Summer Santa only appeared twice in the episodes and he's responsible for starting the conflict and waking up Liam from his psychic coma. At the start of the episode, while he's flying over Dapto, he drops a still lit cigarette on the ground which starts a wildfire in Dapto. Near the end of the episode, when Kevin makes a Christmas wish to wake Liam up from his coma, Summer Santa grants his wish because it's Christmas.
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: The episode opens with "I'll Be Home for Christmas" by Bing Crosby playing in the background to emphasis it's Christmas, but since the setting takes place in Australia, the temperature is hot. Also, besides Alison and Rosie hanging out being the only positive thing during the montage, Liam is still in a psychic coma, Vicky, Spider, Maxwell, and Louise still misses Kevin, the Kookaburra successfully takes over Koala Man's spot of being the hero of Dapto, and Summer Santa drops his still lit cigarette on the grounds of Dapto which will eventually start a wildfire in the town.
  • Spanner in the Works: The Rosie Triplets has a plan to become the most powerful girls in Australia by working their way up to remove Queen Nicole Kidman from power so they can become the new queens. But their plan hit a snag when Rosie 2 fell in love with Alison and she wants to leave with her so they can be together. Rosie 1 and 3 tried to stop them from leaving, but Alison manages to trick them into fighting with each other. When Rosie 3 shoots a poisonous dart at Alison, Rosie 2 takes the dart for Alison, which not only kills her, but also the other two Rosies since they share the same life.
  • The Stinger: While Koala Man is playing his guitar in his shed, he gets a phone call from a mysterious group called the Uncommonwealth, who's been watching him and formally invites him to join their group, but he hangs up on them thinking they're telemarketers.
  • Taking the Bullet: Rosie 2 does this for Alison when Rosie 3 shoots a poisonous dart at Alison and Rosie 2 takes the dart for her, ending her life along with her other two sisters due to sharing the same life.
  • Time-Passage Beard: Kevin grows a beard after being trapped on Toothbrush Head Island for one month.
