Hank and Peggy work on trying to have a baby. Cotton makes a surprise visit and announces Didi is pregnant.

Tropes:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: With Hank and the guys, Cotton tells them about how he's having another baby. He makes fun of Hank's narrow urethra and tells them his is so wide, he could pass a child himself. Dale laughs hard at that, while the other guys stare at him (though it's debatable whether his laughter was genuine as he's known to be a major suck up to Cotton).
  • Are We There Yet?: Bill when the guys arrive in Vegas.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: After Bill comes out of a Vegas strip club: "Hank, I'm in love. That was the finest deep-dish pizza I ever had."
  • But We Used a Condom!: Cotton tells the family during dinner that him and Didi were using four layers of protection and his men still broke through. And in front of Bobby, no less. Hank tells him there's a child present, but Cotton rebuffs him, saying the child is his wife and she was there when it happened.
  • Callback: To the previous episode, when Dale offers to help Hank find Cotton, and puts on his Bounty Hunter cap he earned after taking the four-hour course.
  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Hank wanted to keep the child bearing plans a secret, but Peggy tells Nancy (though mainly out of concern so she can get Hank to see a doctor). Buck Strickland finds out due to the insurance forms he got and tells his barber, who tells the guitar store owner Earl, who gives Hank advice while tuning his guitar. And it snowballs from here.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
    • During the doctor visit, Hank is told he needs to give a sperm sample. And in his mind, he wonders if he needs to be put under and questions whether or not he needs an anesthetic, to which Peggy facepalms. Peggy then whispered in his ear what he really had to do, making him cringe in embarrassment.
    • The next scene he's in the middle of getting the sperm sample when the doctor comes by and asks if he wants a magazine. Hank then asks if they have Popular Mechanics.
  • Disappeared Dad: Subverted; Cotton, being scared of having another baby, disappears to Las Vegas and Hank has to track him down. He finds him and Cotton admits he's going back anyway.
  • Drag Queen: Knowing his father's love of The Andrews Sisters, Hank and the guys go to a performance of what they believe are the real sisters. Hank questions one of them about Cotton's whereabouts. He was there and even grabbed her rear. And got thrown out when he started throwing plates when he discovered the truth: the said sisters were actually men in drag, shown when he takes off the wig, revealing a receding hairline, to which Hank screams in horror.
  • Failed Attempt at Drama: While waiting for one pregnancy test, Peggy tries to give an inspirational speech to Hank, who promptly stops her when the 20 seconds are up. She shoots him a quick Death Glare before getting the results.
  • Flashback: Cotton has a war flashback at the baby store, with the babies turning into Japanese soldier babies.
  • Flirtatious Smack on the Ass: Cotton gives one to a waitress at a bar, although half-heartedly, due to him being depressed over having another baby.
  • Groin Attack: Although accidentally. Hank sits on a magnet in an attempt to build his sperm count and Bobby comes up and talks to him about having another baby, while holding a screwdriver, but it slips out of his hand and flies to the magnet, narrowly missing his crotch.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Cotton still loves Didi (despite him treating her like he did Tilly), shown when Hank makes up a new husband for Didi, prompting Cotton to say he'll gut him. He even admitted he was planning to return. And at the bar with Bobby, he says he genuinely feels sorry for Hank and Peggy struggling to have a child. And though he gives him grief about giving up, he does admit that Hank is a better father, though still insulting Hank in his own way.
Cotton: You ain't in competition with me. Hell, if it's a contest on who's the better daddy, you win. I mean, you made Bobby. All I made is you.
  • Kid Has a Point: When Bobby finds out out that his parents are trying to have another baby, he fears and argues that this would make him The Unfavorite of the family. Given that Hank has questioned and openly expressed disappointment towards many of Bobby’s interests and hobbies throughout the series (not to mention the famous “That Boy Ain’t Right” quote.), his fears aren’t exactly unfounded.
  • Law of Inverse Fertility: Both Hank and Peggy work hard on having another child, to no success. He even goes so far to work on improving his sperm count such as wearing shorts, sitting on an ice cooler, soaking in peaches, among other things. Eventually he gets fed up with it and gives up.
    • On the flip side, Cotton and Didi are having a baby.
  • Mistaken for Pregnant: Happens to Peggy at the baby store when the saleswoman points out she's showing, which makes her (being of average build) insecure.
  • Near-Miss Groin Attack: Hank sits on a magnet to improve his sperm count when Bobby comes in and talks to Hank about how Hank and Peggy are planning to have another child. When Bobby talks to him, he's holding a screwdriver and puts it down after he says his piece. The screwdriver flies to the magnet as Hank reacts and spreads his legs, narrowly missing his crotch.
  • Sensory Abuse: Done in-universe on the way to Vegas, with Hank and Bill singing karaoke into Dale's sensor, with him wearing headphones and grimacing in pain while driving.
  • Serious Business: As Hank found out, if you wear shorts when you go to the alley to drink, let the others know.
  • Suspect Is Hatless: When Hank asks a blackjack dealer about a short angry old man shouting obscenities, he simply replies "Welcome to my world, pal", then cutting to a group of short, grumpy old men.
  • The Unfavorite: Bobby fears this is what he'll become if Hank and Peggy have another baby. He even talks to Hank about that, who assures him he loves him for who he is and tells him he doesn't have to worry about being in competition with anyone. This being another factor into him abandoning the idea of having another child.
  • Viva Las Vegas!: Cotton disappears and after an unsuccessful attempt to find him, Hank finds a phone message from him and after star-69ing him, he finds he's in Vegas. And Hank and the guys go there, showcasing the liveliness of the city.
