Recap / Kim Possible S 3 E 11 And the Mole Rat Will Be CGI

Go To

SeƱor Senior Junior's attempt to steal the British crown jewels goes way off target, to a movie set in New Zealand. When Kim and Ron arrive to stop him, the producer is so impressed that he decides to make a move about Team Possible's exploits. Junior sees this as his chance to become a movie star, and isn't taking no for an answer.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Modesty: In-universe. Unlike the real Rufus, the CGI version is fully clothed. When Junior points this out, Blamhammer says this is a action movie for family audiences.
  • Badass Bystander: Jimmy Blamhammer. Even when Junior threatens to destroy his assistance device (which contains all of his phone numbers, lunch dates and dinner dates), Blamhammer doesn't immediately give in to Junior to save it and lunges right at him before calling Heather and Quinn to help stop him. After Kim and Ron arrive, he slaps Junior's blaster out of his hand before he can shoot them and then starts wrestling Junior for it while Kim and Ron take on the henchmen.
Jimmy Blamhammer: I own this town! You can't threaten me, punk!
  • Call-Back: Blamhammer decides to cancel the Kim Possible movie in favor of making a Monkey Ninjas in Space film, which was the title and premise of a Season 1 episode. Ron and Kim both lampshade this.
  • Cowardly Lion: Quinn runs and hides as soon as Junior displays a weapon, but at the end of the climax, he leaves his hiding place to dramatically knock the gun out of Junior's hand.
  • Dawson Casting: In-universe — in the movie, Kim's portrayed by an actress named Heather and Ron's portrayed by an actor named Quinn, but Ron notes that Heather and Quinn are kind of old to be playing high school students (Ron claims that Heather and Quinn are 28).
  • Dirty Coward: Junior declares "every man for himself" before running off with one of the copters once it's revealed he's at the wrong place.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Passengers aboard Blamhammer's limo are provided helmets for a reason. When going to the restaurant, he "parks" in the wall and nonchalantly hands his keys to the valet before going inside to eat.
  • End-of-Series Awareness: Kim and Ron both mock the idea of there being a Kim Possible movie when this was the last episode before the real-life movie aired.
  • First-Name Basis: Heather and Quinn are only referred to by their first names throughout the episode.
  • Global Ignorance: Junior flies to New Zealand to steal the Tower of London. Even Ron sees something wrong with that.
  • Got Me Doing It: Ron is horrified when he starts to adopt Quinn's "Whatever" catchphrase.
  • Lampshade Hanging: Rufus, who can already speak, is annoyed at being replaced with a CGI molerat in order for his film version to be able to talk.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Ron scoffs at being played by an actor in his late '20s, roughly the age that Will Friedle was when the episode premiered.
  • Oh, Crap!: Junior is mostly confused as to what Kim and Ron are doing when they start tying his entire chopper squadron together during his attempted heist of the Tower of London. Only when they finish hooking them all together does he realize how bad this is for him and his henchmen.
Junior: We're all going to crash!
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Junior's obsession with becoming a popular star and the revelation that they're making a Kim Possible movie based on the actions he took part in, without asking him to be part of it or any reference to him, makes him scary, and he dips more into villainy than usual without his father's prompting. In the climax he barges onto the set and takes the producer at gunpoint to pressure him into casting Junior as the movie's villain.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: After Junior runs away from the movie set, the henchmen he brought with him stick around and ask Jimmy for jobs on set—for example, one offers to work as a hairstylist/makeup artist while another claims that he wants to work as a stuntman. Then, once Junior comes back, he hires them to work for him again.
  • Robot Maid: SSS's idea of punishing of SSJ is by forcing him to sit around and watch their pool-cleaning robot do its job (instead of making Junior clean the pool himself).
  • Title Drop: Jimmy Blammhammer says those words.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: The green screen actor doing the martial arts moves for CGI Rufus is never seen again after his failed attempt to scare off the villains with CGI Rufus.
  • Who Would Want to Watch Us?: Kim and Ron are bemused by the idea of someone making a movie about them.
  • Wire Fu: Used in-universe for the filming to allow Heather to emulate Kim's moves. Played for Laughs when Heather tries to attack Junior and she just gets tangled up in the wires.
  • The Wonka: Jimmy Blamhammer is an unashamed Captain Crash with his limo, is willing to hear out people who commandeer his satellite signal to talk to him and has a micro-cell implanted right into in his brain. He's also an experienced and famous Hollywood movie producer/director with more than a few movies under his belt, can tell when someone is lying about "special skills" and has the clout to hire two of Hollywood's most famous actors for his movie.
  • You Just Ruined the Shot: Junior and his henchmen attack a replica Tower of London set up for a movie. Later, they attack the movie set where the Team Possible movie is being made in an attempt to force the producer to give Junior a starring role.
