Recap / Kaeloo S 3 E 3 Lets Play Locked Away

Go To

Stumpy and Quack Quack put their comic books, yogurt, and cell phones into a maximum security safe at the bank, but soon realize that they need the items for day-to-day use.

"Let's Play Locked Away" contains the following tropes:

  • Brick Joke:
    • At the beginning of the episode, Mr. Cat mentions that sheep eat everything in sight. At the end of the episode, Quack Quack and Stumpy's stuff gets eaten by sheep.
    • Stumpy and Quack Quack are trying to break into the bank to get their stuff back and start packing the things they will need, Stumpy packs a pair of swim trunks and says they're "for the alibi". When they get caught later in the episode, Stumpy holds up the pair of swim trunks and claims that he'd lost it inside the bank and just found it.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Stumpy and Quack Quack's belongings get eaten by sheep, and Kaeloo rejects Mr. Cat when he asks her out due to a misunderstanding, but at least Mr. Cat pays for his actions.
  • Crush Blush: Both Kaeloo and Mr. Cat start furiously blushing when the latter is flirting with the former, especially when he puts his hands on her shoulders and runs a finger down her chin.
  • Entendre Failure: Mr. Cat attempts to ask Kaeloo out on a date and implies that he wants to have sex with her afterwards with an Unusual Euphemism about her "cashing his checks". Naturally, given the fact that it's a very unusual way to say it, Kaeloo assumes that he's trying to bribe her into doing him some sort of favor.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Mr. Cat cheats Stumpy and Quack Quack. In the end, Kaeloo beats him up and misunderstands his intention to ask her out.
  • New Job as the Plot Demands: The episode lampshades the series' tendency to do this to the characters; after holding several different jobs through the episode, Kaeloo, as a police officer, arrests Stumpy and Quack Quack for robbery, and then tells them that if they need an attorney for their court hearing, she'll be there to do that for them too.
  • Unusual Euphemism: Given the episode's theme of banks and money, Mr. Cat uses a series of strange euphemisms such as "cashing checks" to imply that he wants to ejaculate inside Kaeloo.
