Recap page for Kaamelott.

Book I

In the kingdom of Logres (which encompasses Great Britain and much of Gaul), the castle of Kaamelott is built, the court is established, and King Arthur Pendragon and his knights gather around a round table. They discuss the Holy Grail, administrate the kingdom and retell their epic adventures and victories for the glory of the Gods and the people. Everything is seemingly set to ensure the success of the Quest of the Holy Grail... except not. Arthur quickly realizes that his court and knights, despite not lacking of motivation, aren't up to speed with him in many ways.

Book II

Arthur's kingdom is under the threat of barbarian invasions. Unification of the kingdom's clans allows to fend off the invasions. Arthur does his best to govern with the bumbling and relatively incompetent knights he's surrounded by, who accomplish quests with more or less success. Not everything is going well: Arthur and his trusted second-in-command Lancelot du Lac start becoming acrimonious to each other, and Arthur's unhappy love life doesn't help him with his chronic despair.

Book III

Things don't improve between Arthur and Lancelot. Arthur has troubles putting up with Lancelot's rigorism and elitism, and Lancelot holds Arthur's ways to govern (with laidbackness and flexibility) in contempt. to make matters worse, Arthur also falls in love with Mevanwi, the wife of one of his knights, Karadoc.

Book IV

Lancelot has rebelled against Arthur, leaving the court of Kaamelott and going on his own Quest for the Holy Grail. Upon finding out that Arthur cheats on her with Mevanwi, Queen Guenièvre leaves Kaamelott and becomes Lancelot's lover, which causes the Lady of the Lake to be banned by the Gods. The Knights of the round table must choose a side between the renegade Lancelot and Arthur, who now is in a forbidden marriage with Mevanwi. King Loth feeds the dissension by joining Lancelot's side with his armies and finances.

Book V

Arthur breaks up with Mevanwi and frees Guenièvre from Lancelot, making her his queen once again. Lancelot has disappeared, with some saying he committed suicide out of Guenièvre leaving him. Arthur is deeply affected by this. When Arthur's mother and in-laws demand that he put Excalibur back in the stone to remind everyone that he's the Chosen One, he reluctantly obliges before realizing he has a chance to change the course of his existence.

Book VI

Fifteen years before the beginning of the series, Arthur is a simple soldier in the urban Roman milice. Rather solitary, sentimental and far from being ambitious, he's not waiting for much in life in the middle of the decaying Roman Empire. But the Gods and the Senate decide otherwise

The last episode picks up where Book V left off.

Kaamelott: Premier Volet

Ten years have passed since Arthur renounced the throne of and disappeared. Lancelot has usurped the throne and established a reign of terror over the kingdom of Logres. The Knights of the Round Table have disbanded and formed pitiful pockets of resistance against Lancelot. Everyone wonders what happened to Arthur, from Lancelot (who wants him dead and put a bounty on his head) all the way to the oppressed smallfolk (who want him to return). Arthur is eventually found by a bounty hunter and brought back to Logres and, suffice to say, he's not keen on becoming king again.
