In order to show Supergirl and Superman that their innate goodness is not so innate, Mr. Mxyzptlk creates a timeline where they were never raised together in Kansas.

- Alternate Timeline: In Mxyzptlk's created timeline, Superman was raised in Kasnia and Supergirl was raised in Hollywood, and as a result their personalities are quite different from their usual depictions in the show, with Supergirl being rather spoiled and Superman being an aggressive conqueror for Kasnia.
- Batman Gambit: Alternate Superman pulls one by saying something in Kasnian and including "Kltpzyxm" in the sentence. Mxyzptlk repeats it and asks what "Kltpzyxm" means, and then... *POOF*.
- Dissonant Serenity: Booster Gold calmly watches Alternate Superman and Alternate Supergirl fight while eating an apple.
- Nature vs. Nurture: The theme of the episode. Mr. Mxyzptlk is trying to prove their goodness is all nurture, by altering the timeline so Clark was raised as a weapon for a war torn country, while Kara was raised in Hollywood into a spoiled fame seeker.
- No Ontological Inertia: Alternate Supergirl's outfit shows her midriff. When the normal timeline is restored, her outfit goes back to covering her midriff as well.

- When Booster Gold tries to explain to Alternate Superman how things are supposed to be, it jogs some memories of the original timeline, including the knowledge of how to banish Mxyzptlk.
- After the normal timeline is restored, Superman and Supergirl still remember everything that happened in the alternate timeline.

- The episode's title is a nod to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
- The intro to Mxyzptlk's "The Mxy Show" is an obvious nod to the intro of The Twilight Zone (1959).
