The campers are forced to travel underground in order to avoid catching the attention of an escaped pteranodon flock, however, they suddenly end up in even greater danger when wash up in the Jurassic World Lagoon, home of the park’s Mosasaurus.
- Action Film, Quiet Drama Scene: The kayaks rowing through the underground river give the campers some time to sort out their feelings about the situation and Sammy’s spying.
- An Aesop: Kenji tells Brooklyn, being mad doesn’t fix anything. It just makes people more mad.
- Aquatic Hadrosaurs: A herd of partially-aquatic glowing Parasaurolophus live in the underground river.
- Bioluminescence Is Cool: While the campers are rowing through the underground river, the entire place is illuminated by bioluminescent lichens on the rock walls. They also run into a herd of glowing Parasaurolophus apparently genetically-engineered to be similarly bioluminescent.
- Did Not Think This Through: Yaz says this word-for-word when she successfully distracts the Mosasaurus into coming for her… and she doesn’t have a plan to get herself out of danger.
- Doomed by Canon: For the campers, it’s a Hope Spot when they see Masrani’s chopper engaging the I-rex… but anyone who saw Jurassic World already knows it will end in disaster.
- It's All My Fault: During the kayak ride, Sammy breaks down in tears and claims it's entirely her fault they're all stuck in this situation.
- Jaw Drop: Everyone’s reactions when they see Masrani’s helicopter smash into the Aviary, releasing the Pterosaurs within.
- The Reveal: Sammy breaks down and confesses after the group confronts her for stealing Brooklynn’s phone. She snuck into Dr. Wu’s lab and stole classified information, then took a skin sample from the Sinoceratops because a rival genetics company named Mantah Corp. offered to clear her family’s debt if she did. She stole Brooklynn’s phone because Brooklynn accidentally recorded her taking the Sinoceratops sample with it… and said phone broke when everyone was knocked off the zipline that morning.
- Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Jurassic World’s staff are already completely overwhelmed with trying to evacuate hundreds of other visitors from the park, and can’t officially spare any resources to help look for 6 random kids. Roxie steals a Jurassic World truck with Dave to try and recover the campers.
- Sea Monster: The Mosasaurus is a gigantic aquatic reptile.
- Twisted Ankle: Yaz falls from the lagoon feeding station at a bad angle onto the concrete bleachers, and injures her ankle. This immediately turns her from the best runner in the group into the slowest.
- Was It All a Lie?: Yaz is clearly distraught that she defended Sammy against Brooklynn when Sammy DID steal the phone after all, since Sammy had gone out of her way to bring Yaz out of her shell. Yaz is too furious to listen to an answer from Sammy, but Sammy herself later turns out to be a legitimately gregarious, sweet person who made a series of bad decisions out of fear and desperation.
- We Need a Distraction: Yaz grabs onto the post for the feeding mechanism in the Mosasaurus lagoon and starts hammering on it, distracting the Mosasaurus from the other campers in the kayaks.
