Tropes

  • Apology Gift: Played with. Ward buys some flowers as an apology to Bethany but ends up leaving the store without them.
  • The Bus Came Back: Dr. Paul Edmonds returns, doing a session with Walker.
  • Call-Back: Chen's still mad at Colleen and Sherry for losing his eye.
  • Chekhov's Gun: There's a bloodstained machete—shown to be Walker's weapon —lying by the dead Sokovian guards, but Walker doesn't remember using it.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Matt Murdock is namedropped again.
    • Walker mentions Sokovia.
    • Colleen spars with Danny in the cage (now abandoned) she fought in in Season One.
  • Contrast Montage: Between Colleen training Danny and Davos training his followers.
  • Do You Trust Me?: When Chen says "Trust me", Davos replies that given the ease with which he sold out his former comrades, he'll never trust him. As he wants to be more than Davos's driver, Chen doesn't look happy.
  • Double Agent: Joy acts as one, pretending to be on Davos's side while secretly enlisting BB to recover the bowl that can potentially help to defeat Davos.
  • Dramatic Irony: The Triads have finally made that parley, but only so they can team up to take on Davos.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Ryhno is shocked over Yip's death and refuses to follow Davos, only for Crank to cut his throat.
  • If I Do Not Return: Joy gets Ward to take over her solar cell factory, which he realises she would only do if she thought Davos might kill her.
  • Implied Death Threat: Chen holds up his notebook when warning Joy not to try pushing him out.
  • Looking Busy: Chen pretends to be reading while listening in on Davos and Joy.
  • Missing Time: Turns out neither the Mary or Walker personalities were responsible for killing the guards at her prison in Sokovia. Walker gets Ward to get hold of her redacted file to get some answers.
  • Oh, Crap!: Walker gets one when Mary thanks her for getting them out of that hellhole in Sokovia. It takes us a while to realize it's because she thought Mary got them out by convincing someone else to do it. It turns out there's a third alter, a much, much nastier one.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: Walker asks Ward if he wants his teeth ripped out. Ward replies that no one wants their teeth ripped out.
  • Training from Hell: Danny enlists Colleen in putting him through a grueling training routine so he can rehabilitate himself after his injury.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: What Davos believes himself to be. When Yip refuses to accept his protection because he's afraid of being caught up in another war, Davos declares him in league with the Golden Tigers and kills him.
  • Wham Line:
Colleen: If we take the power out of Davos, it has to go somewhere. Someone has to hold the Fist.
Danny: I know. I think it should be you.
  • With Us or Against Us: Davos kills Mr. Yip even though he's a businessman who was coerced into paying protection money, stating that by refusing his own protection he's with the Triads. He then just blames Joy for misleading him.
