Recap / Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria: Brand New Day

Go To

The Blossomverse trilogy reaches its conclusion as a new day arrives.

  • Accidental Misnaming: Since "Crocus" is a phrase Lusamine doesn't normally hear, she ends up calling the alternate version of Professor Sycamore the "Seeker of Croquettes" frequently.
  • Bittersweet Ending:
    • Chloe and Goh have rekindled their friendship and are looking forward to their futures, but they have to separate and Chloe is painfully aware that she lost months of time she could've spent with her friends.
    • The Unsub's Crew have been taken care of and won't hurt anybody ever again, but those who died by their hands remain dead.
    • Goh and Tokio manage meet again, but the former hasn't quite forgotten the latter's "request" on the Train, and makes it clear he's gonna have to work to prove he can be a good friend.
    • Oleana gets some leverage on the whole Darkest Day debacle, but she has to live with the fact that not only is her sister still dead and stuck on the Train, but that Project Tallow hurt a lot of people.
  • Bookends: In Blossoming Trail, the Corgi Car has a statue of Tulip, One-One and Atticus. Now they have two more statues in Chloe and Goh.
  • But Now I Must Go: Since Goh and Chloe live in different Regions now, they rekindle their friendship just in time for Mew-sorry, the Shiny Espurr-to teleport the former back home.
  • Call-Back: The Applin that Trip mentioned wanting to give Ash finally shows up after being mentioned in Blossoming Trail.
  • Dark Horse Victory: Dick Dastardly has taken over the Desert Racetrack Car in Ben's absence, and cheerfully announces his intention to integrate puns into this new reboot of Wacky Races.
  • Double Standard: Tokio notes how unfair it is that Goh basically got healed by the same person who traumatized Tokio for life whereas Goh notes that Tokio got to leave the Train and reunite with his parents, a luxury that Grace Monroe will never get and that is unfair to both Mr. and Mrs. Monroe and Grace herself.
  • Drama Queen: Amelia and One-One speculate that part of what fueled the melodrama surrounding the Apex and Chloe was a result of bringing so many people with their own baggage and dramatic tendencies aboard a fantastical train. Given people Chloe Bourgeois are confirmed to have been on the Train at some point, it's a decent theory.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Bittersweet as it may be, everybody comes out of the story in a better place, primarily Chloe and Goh, who rekindle their friendship and manage to make amends.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Invoked when Goh quips that him going to school was apparently something really important before:
Chloe: It’s…amazing how something can seem completely right in the moment, make so much sense and should be obvious to everyone else, and then when you look back at it, even from just a few steps forward, and you just wonder what the hell you were thinking and wishing you could take it back and do something entirely different…
  • Internal Reveal: Goh explains his train adventures to his Pokeworld friends, and informs Tokio about Warbler's true identity.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Julie and Gard still have no idea that the Shiny Espurr in Goh's shoulder is a disguised Mew.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The universe Lusamine is looking at is clearly Orange Rose Gathering.
    • Goh apparently finds the Grookey from canon, but trades it to Chloe for the Porygon she caught for him, which evolved into a Porygon2 when doing so.
  • Noodle Incident: While Lusamine looked up other worlds, she once saw one where Ash ate the largest croquette sandwich.
  • A Rare Sentence: The narration lampshades how Chloe questions how Gard and Julie are her friends now.
  • "Ray of Hope" Ending: Huxley and Cecilia finally smile after learning what happened to their daughter and are comforted that she at least did something good before she died.
  • Series Fauxnale: As the end notes point out, while this chapter ends the original trilogy that spanned the Blossomverse, the universe is still open for continuation, including an epilogue chapter.
  • Series Finale: Serves as this to the original trilogy that started with Blossoming Trail.
  • Sequel Hook: Oleanna asks Lusamine to look up the Seeker of Crocus, implying that will be something that the characters will have to face in the future. And given just how the Seeker of Crocus even appeared on the train in the first place...
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: Gard and Julie note that everyone is a little too quick to assert that it is, in fact, a Shiny Espurr on Goh's shoulder.
