Recap / Infinity Train: Voyage of Wisteria: The Roaring Twenties Car

Go To

The penultimate chapter of Wisteria sees Goh exit the train for good.

  • Bookends: Goh seeing Chloe's flower scrunchie: at the beginning of Blossoming Trail, it was on the ground to signify how she vanished. In the end, Hazel waves good-bye while wearing it, signalling that he's ready to move on.
  • Breather Episode: After the intense events of both The Metamorphosis Car and The Darkest Day, this chapter mostly serves to give everybody a proper goodbye before Goh leaves the Train.
  • Breaking the Fellowship: The Red Lotus Quarto/Travelers of Wisteria formally disband with Goh’s departure: Atticus will go back to Corginia, Lexi is heading back to Azada to learn to become a better partner, and Amelia is heading back to One-One but is bringing Hazel with her (who will take care of Warbler).
  • But Now I Must Go: With his number finally at zero, Goh leaves the Infinity Train at last.
  • Call-Back:
    • Ash references various moments in the anime and Orange Lily in regards to friendship, covering (directly by name) Jirachi, Giratina's three movie appearances, Mirror Ash, Dia, and the Ultra Recon Squad.
    • Atticus notes that the Roaring Twenties Car is similar to where the Red Lotus Quarto had their celebration after the Fog Car. He then asks if One-One quarantined that car yet.
  • Call-Forward: After Ash admits to having met Giratina multiple times enough to call it friend, Chloe wonders if he knows Santa Claus. She gets the answer in a few months time in universe via the Holiday special.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: After all the horrors unleashed upon him in the last story and this one putting him through the wringer at the start, Goh not only gets to exit the Train with a renewed mental health state, but with a big party where he's the recipient of everyone's adoration and praise, rather than their hatred.
  • Internal Reveal: It's revealed that the rest of the Red Lotus Remnants saw the interview before this chapter, and Lexi and Atticus both apologize to Goh for only aggravating the situation.
  • Mundane Utility: Goh's grandma has been using a Mew...to teleport to Kalos to buy authentic Kalosian Wine.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Atticus addresses the Voyagers of Wisteria this way. Then tacks Samantha at the end.
  • The Promise: Romsca asks Goh to deliver her scarf to Oleana. Him doing so drops his number to 0.
  • The Roaring '20s: It's right there in the title. The titular Car has the general aesthetic of this era.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Goh delivering a promise is what makes his number down to 0. Considering how he had trouble in keeping promises in the past, this shows how far he's come.
  • Significant Wardrobe Shift: London was wearing black when seen at the Hazbin Car but goes back to his white suit now that things are better.
  • Teleportation: Turns out that the Mew Tomie's been taking care of knows Teleport, and she's been using it to get authentic Kalosian wine. Goh later uses this move to reach everybody during a press conference.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: The news reporters are as interested about asking Ash about general questions as ones relating to the Darkest Day. Apparently a lot of people just don't think too much about things like the Darkest Day, the Flare attack, and the events of 2000 after a while.
  • Wham Shot: After everything that Goh went through, he finally removes his bandages to reveal that his number is now at 9.
