Recap / Infinity Train: Boiling Point: The Azada Car

Go To

Azada is about to get quite magical...

  • All Webbed Up: Lexi is the recipient of this thanks to Calpernia.
  • Armor-Piercing Question:
    • When Chloe gets a call from Daiki as to what happened to Goh, with Daiki stating Goh isn't a friend. Chloe questions that if Daiki is her friend, why hasn't he called her in the past six months?
    • Youkai thrive on belief so Chloe questions whether or not Daiki and her would still be friends if she wasn't a huge believer in Youkai
  • Bittersweet Ending: On the bitter side: Azada is destroyed (and Titus notes that the Train will eventually make another forbidden section of the library), Hazel learns the truth about her, Azura is ready to reveal the truth about Boscha, Mattholomeule dies after stopping the youkai and Chloe has given up on her friendship/crush on Specter after realizing the lows he and Daiki would go to bring her back (and Specter will have to pay for his crimes with White Gestalt). On the sweet side: Azada will be healed, Grace has moved on from her mistakes, the Red Lotus Trio are heading off to truly work on themselves and Phos and Chris are heading off to find out Boscha's past.
  • Cathartic Scream: After Amelia reveals not only the origin of how she was created, but how even the Train itself didn't want it to happen, Hazel lets out a giant scream for a while.
  • A Day in the Limelight: Mattholomeule gets focus as being a hexorcist to stop Daiki in the Pokémon world. Unfortunately this also happens to be when he dies.
    • The arc in general gives the Red Lotus Trio more focus as they realize how insensitive they were (Chloe and Lexi) or how they haven't done much to help (Atticus) and ends with them resolving to do better. In particular, Chloe moves on from Specter by handing him her pendant and tells him to not cross paths with the trio ever again.
  • A Death In Thelimelight: Mattholomeule dies after succumbing to critical wounds from the youkai.
  • Dragons Prefer Princesses: Discussed; Emiliy's dragon states that no, he hates that stereotype of dragons kidnapping princesses and states he likes queens instead.
  • Due to the Dead: Luz leads a funeral for Mattholomeule, not only because it's the right thing to do but also because he's the reason why Luz was able to tell Amity about Boscha's letter.
  • The Easy Way or the Hard Way: While confronting Hazel at the Dragon Castle Car, Amelia tells her this as a warning to come along quietly. Hazel, being Hazel, naturally chooses the hard way.
  • Female Monster Surprise: Hazel's quite surprised to find out Lionheart's a girl.
  • Forgetful Jones: Yeardley completely forgot that he was the reason why Chloe got on the train in the first place, as well as how she beat him up with a book. Chloe even lampshades if the boy is getting a therapist.
  • Fusion Dance: Like in Miraculous Ladybug, Kwamis can be fused together: in this case, Amelia fuses the Turtle and Monkey Miraculous to get an edge over Hazel.
    • Through unknown means, Daiki fused with a Spiritomb in the Pokémon World, further trapping the Sakuragi Institute in an iron grip.
  • Hidden Depths: Matholomeule comes from a line of hexorcists and can summon Giratina with a whistle. Gus lampshades how cool and unexpected this revelation is and how hints should've been added sooner.
  • In-Series Nickname: Lexi calls the Necronimcon "Nomi".
  • Internal Reveal: Lexi learns from his father that Boscha burned the Forbidden Books section.
  • Killed Off for Real: Mattholomeule kicks the bucket after being crushed and torn apart by the youkai.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: In Part 3, Mattholomeule gets ready to start an exorcism in the Sakuragi Institute.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Specter is really behind with the times when he questions who Boa is and how Lexi brings up the Kamehameha wave.
  • Lower-Deck Episode: The third chapter of the arc primarily focuses on Gus and Mattholomule traveling to the Pokémon World, and teaming up with Ash and a Youkai in order to exorcise Daiki from the Sakuragi Institute. Even the text at the start lampshades the fact Azada's barely featured in this chapter.
  • Magical Library: Azada is a library ruled by Paper People with Flying Books. This arc takes place in Azada. Do the math.
  • Noodle Incident: Chloe used the Necronomicon in the Dragon Quest Car to unleash a Zombie Apocalypse on Apex Fantasy.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Once Daiki's captured, the controlled White Gestalt turn back to their former selves.
  • The Reveal:
    • The Ars Goetia book reveals that it wants to leave the Train, so it made a deal with Daiki — channeled through Specter. Moreover, Daiki's the reason why Goh's a static passenger by punishing and tormenting the boy for being a horrible friend.
    • We find out the true origin of Hazel when Amelia shows her videos detailing her creation. Needless to say, she doesn't take it well.
    • Daiki is a youkai born after abuse from his parents and driven mad from loneliness, and the fact he could never get his vengeance on them.
    • Boscha was an "experiment" based on the love affair of a human and witch and Azura's most powerful weapon.
  • Secretly Selfish: Turns out to be Daiki's main problem, as despite claiming to do everything he's doing for Chloe's sake, he's really just using her as an excuse yo enact revenge to get the Catharsis he never got.
  • Sheath Your Sword: How the Master of Masters "beats" Lionheart: by dematerializing his Keyblade and assuring her he doesn't want to hurt her.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Hazel doesn’t take it well when Amelia shows her videos detailing her creation.
  • Written-In Absence: Chris and Phos both sit this arc out because they're training at the Anime Training Arc Car.
  • What You Are in the Dark: When the Motherbeast practically erases Chloe's number and gives her a portal home, Chloe could just abandon Goh, Lexi and Atticus and return home. She says she'll leave...but only if Goh comes with her all while Goh is eavesdropping on them.
  • Youkai: The Sakuragi Institute is filled with them and they only stop when they're either sealed away or Chloe tells Daiki to knock it off.
