Recap / Infinity Train: Blossoming Trail: The Canals of Fondue Car

Go To

Chloe, Lexi and Atticus explore a Venetian-city where the canals are filled with cheese fondue and learn of two passengers who previously passed by this car.

This arc contains examples of:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Parker gives one to Ash over his excuses on why he never took the chance to ask about Chloe's problems, particularly pointing out that he never asked their father who he sees on a day to day basis.
  • Bring Me My Brown Pants: Yeardley pisses himself when he's just one inch away from losing his head from Parker.
  • Bystander Syndrome: Miss April had enough evidence to call Professor Cerise about her class being assholes but did nothing under the assumption that the class was welcoming Chloe into their group.
  • City of Canals: The car is called The Canals of Fondue Car and has an Italian flair to it. Atticus is even reminded of a car from his first adventure when Tulip helped Nancy with her deliveries.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Chloe tried playing chess against some guy with a silver jacket and a card locket. Given who that person was, the results were this.
  • Dance of Romance: Lexi and Chloe indulge in this to Voltaire's "The Headless Waltz".
  • Did Not Think This Through:
    • Miss April had so much evidence about her class being a bunch of bullies to Chloe...and never considered that it would've been good to call her parents about what was going on?!
    • No one in Class 5-E considered how their gloating would've been uploaded for the world to see or how them being the reason why a fellow classmate ran away from school would make them be punished by everyone. Or the implications that she could be dead because they pressured her into a depressive state.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Sara stating how abnormal people should be put down could be seen as an attack against those of different race, sex, etc. Not helping in that she's a white blond-haired girl...
  • Engineered Public Confession, Parker, Ash and Trip do this with Class 5-E, banking on them gloating about their bullying on Chloe to be recorded so that everyone knows that the were the reasons behind Chloe's disappearance.
  • I Warned You: Mr. Bradbury's reaction to Class 5-E getting their just desserts reeks of this.
Miss April: I hope you're happy with what you've done.
Mr. Bradbury: For the three minutes that they gloated about Chloe before it was posted on the Internet, they were.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Chloe's classmates have been caught admitting their wicked deeds to everyone at the school and then have it uploaded, not to mention having Ash Ketchum chew them out and make them admit that Chloe actually was kind to them even though it never benefitted her.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": After Parker states his Wham Line, all of 5-E see Trip step into view with his camera, realizing that he captured their bragging on getting away with bullying Chloe for the whole world to see.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: If Class 5-E just gave into Parker's demands and brought up all the good points about Chloe, they'd still be at school. But no, they insisted on gloating on how happy they were in hurting her and they lost everything in the end. Their education, friends, love from their family and any chance of being Pokémon Trainers. Although given what Professor Cerise just heard from their homeroom teacher, they would've been gone either way; they just accelerated their doom.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Sara, Yeardley and the rest of Class 5-E successfully drove Chloe away, and had gotten away with little more than a few scolding speeches from Goh and Miss April. Their decision to rub this in Parker's face by gloating about all the ways they bullied her ensures that their reputations go up in flames with the Internet to mock them for a long time.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: To Chloe's teachers and Class 5-E, everyone involved gets torn apart for their apathy and inaction.
  • The Reveal:
    • Chloe learns that Gladion was once on this Train and was praised as a hero. She also learns that Mallow also went there when she was quite younger and left a malasada shop.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Chloe's fight against Zack ends this way as just as he's about to beat her, she just states how she's rather envious on how Zack is protective of Ray. Zack just can't find it in himself to kill someone for something so saccharine.
  • Tempting Fate: After Class 5-E gloats to Parker about everything they did to make Chloe's life miserable (when Parker just wanted some good things for an art project he was doing for her), Sara asks if Parker has any last requests. Parker then asks her to smile for the camera, which at this point reveals that everything they just said was livestreamed and now on the Internet.
  • Wham Line: After Class 5-E laughs and gloats about how they made Chloe cry and Sara states how people who are abnormal should be stomped on, she sarcastically asks Parker if he's got any more requests.
    Parker: Uh...smile for the camera?
[cue an entire class realizing that they have just ruined their lives]
