Hilda's great aunt Astrid invites Hilda and Johanna to come visit her in the village of Tofoten for the summer. Alfur, Tontu, David and Frida come along for the ride. In Tofoten, they meet a shapeshifting creature named The Pooka and have to return a woff egg to its nest. Meanwhile, Hilda becomes interested in the Fairies that supposedly live here.

Tropes:

  • Anti-Sneeze Finger: David does this to Tontu while in the Woff Cave. Since Tontu has a rather large nose, David pinches his nose instead of just holding his finger against it.
  • Blatant Lies: The Pooka insists that he wasn't going to eat the woff egg that just flew out of his bag, even though he was demanding that Astrid let him borrow a large egg cup barely a minute ago.
  • Camera Fiend: Tontu becomes one this episode, taking photos of everything and everyone he encounters in Tofoten.
  • Clean, Pretty Childbirth: Averted; The Woff that hatches from its egg has residue coming out of its egg and wet fur. It dries off quickly though, but Alfur still gets covered in the slimy stuff after riding the baby woff.
  • Coconut Meets Cranium: An apple is about to fall onto Frida's head from the tree under which she and David were relaxing, but she uses her magic to stop it. When David jokingly asks if this counts as a valid reason to use magic (as she previously stated she would only use magic if it related to her studies or in an emergency), she uses her magic to make another apple fall on his head.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • To the movie: Astrid tells Hilda she's glad Hilda is normal again, as she wouldn't know what to cook for Hilda had she still been a troll.
    • When riding the baby woff, Alfur complains that it's nothing like riding a pigeon. He rode a pigeon several times in Season 2 and the movie.
  • Fairy Ring: Hilda and her mother unknowingly walk through one in the woods, and it's mentioned that the town puts horseshoes on their doors to keep faeries out, indicating it's probably not simply a natural phenomenon.
  • Group Hug: Hilda, Frida, and David share one together upon meeting up at the train station.
  • Headphones Equal Isolation: Subverted; during the train ride, David is listening to his portable radio. When Frida tells him to get his feet off the couch, he seemingly doesn’t hear her because of the headphones, but when Hilda remarks she has never been to Tofoten before, David reacts with surprise, proving he could hear them after all and was deliberately ignoring Frida. Something she immediately lampshades.
  • Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist: Tontu dresses like this for the trip to Tofoten. He fears it's too much, but Frida assures him he looks just right. He also acts like one, taking photos of everything he sees.
  • Honor Before Reason: Johanna initially gets five train tickets for her family and friends. While Alfur is literally invisible for most people, he insists that she buys a sixth ticket as well because he's the sixth person in the group, and it wouldn't be fair or legal for him to get a pass.
  • The Joy of First Flight: While for Hilda it's not the first time she has flown on a Woff, she, Frida, Johanna and Tontu clearly have a great time as the Woff take them for a ride. David and Alfur less so.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: After Hilda's remark that she's never been to Tofoten, David claims they're in the same boat then, or the same train in this case. Hilda and Frida are not amused by his attempt at a joke.
  • Murphy's Bed: Tontu ends up trapped in a folding chair when it slams shut after he sneezes.
  • Small Town Boredom: The gang hoped for a relaxing vacation in Tofoten, away from the [usual] weirdness they have been accustomed to. Various circumstances lead to everyone becoming bored and miserable in less than a day, wanting something exciting to do. Enter the Pooka and the Woff Egg...
  • Time Skip: The season premiere takes place apparently two years after the events of the movie.
  • Tricking the Shapeshifter: When the Pooka takes the Woff Egg again, Hilda pretends she is impressed by his skills and asks him to show some of his shapeshifting skills. When he turns into a snake on her request, he can no longer hold onto the egg and Hilda easily takes it back.
  • You Can See Me?: Alfur's reaction when Astrid greets him along with Hilda's other friends, since humans need to go through a process to see elves. Astrid in turn reveals she signed the paperwork a long time ago.
